If done correctly, I would love that to be part of the game, but at this point we don't have any info on the subject..... so we'll just have to wait and see.

 • Of course, it's 99% speculation. I was asking more for thoughts in terms of game design, balance and feasibility. A game like Loadout would be a more extreme example (you build anything from a rocket launcher to a heavy machinegun from the ground up all with completely interchangeable modular parts); I was thinking Destiny might do something albeit with more of a weapon type-specific touch. Like you could swap out all parts from one pulse rifle to the next, one auto rifle or shotgun to the next, one hand cannon, or rocket launcher, etc. but not swap weapon parts between those types. Some parts, like scopes for example, could be more flexible. Most of this is just from looking at the weapon concept art (pic above) and the weapon posters from the E3 booth; you can tell some weapons, like the Red Death and the Monitor S11 share similar, if not identical geometry and assets. Or have parts that could easily be interchangeable. It makes sense solely from the standpoint of procedurally generated loot variety. Just seems like a missed opportunity if it wasn't explored as a design for players to build their own guns from those parts.
