Sniper rifles in halo: are they for wusses?
whenever i play halo and use a sniper rifle, i usually dominate.my friends say sniper rifles are for -blam!-. so does half the people i know who play halo. opinions anyone?

no matter what you use (sniper, rockets, tanks, warthogs, pistol) you will always be called a -blam!- or cheap. Thats just other peoples way of blowing off steam. they dont want to accept that fact that they suck. like the other day i was owning people simply by running them down in a hog. they called it cheap and hogs are for -blam!-s. but within 5 min. they were doing the same thing i was. the point is their are no -blam!-'s in Halo. only good players and bad players

I guess it really depends on how well you are with it. I don't get called anything because I can't snipe for beans, so...yeah.

Although the sniper rifle is commonly picked up by newer players who are looking for cheap and easy kills, it takes a hell of a lot more skill than most think to use it. Just because you snipe, doesn't mean your a -blam!-. The same could be said for those who use tanks, rocket launchers, shotguns, and pistols.

There are only 2 unbalanced weaps in halo: The pistol, and the RL at close/medium range -- The pistol is cheap for obvious reasons... my 8 yr old sister even got kills on me using that thing for crying out loud! -- The RL is not cheap if used at long range or against vehicles, because both take skill to use, using a RL as a supplementary weapon is not cheap either, but whoring the RL and camping with it is kind cheap.

in my opinoin, a guy w/a sniper rifle vs a tank is braver then a guy in the tank. cause u have to sit still and wait for a shot, whilst a tanker may be lookin on your screen to blast u to hell(god forbid should they decide not to look on your screen) also considering the tank has the 50cal. machine gun plus the cannon, the tanker, in my PROFESSIONAL opinion,is the -blam!- of the pair.

heres how it is: a sniper rifle (or pistol) is the hardest weapon to become effective with. The reasons for this is because one, it has no spread, and two it fires slowly, becaseu of this onl y the best players become really good w/ snipers, so no snipers are not -blam!-, in fact they are the bravest people in the game, i know snipers who keep cool when ur running at them w/ a shotgun, firing like mad, and as a result they blown ur brains out and make ur sad bodie spin through the air. In short snipers can get annoying w/ one shot kills, but people should relize it requiers tons of skill to play well w/ a sniper rifle.

ya, tanks are probably the easiest weapon to get easy kills with, however, unless there is a smart tank driver and he's going at the enemy backwards, the sniper rifle is the weapon of choice because a tank coming at you is basically a free head shot. Yeah, i call my bro cheap after he pistol-whips me and then grabs a health pack......and pistol whips me again...and so on and so forth. I'm not that great at pistols..i mean i'm ok, but my bro is far superior to me. Fortunately (and unfortunately) in Halo 2, the pistols will not be as good anymore, but to completely answer you're question...no, snipers aren't wimpy, or unfair, or cheap, etc., because they actually take skill to use, and if people aren't strafing after they get shot at with a sniper, then they deserve to be shot again, so no matter how much they call you "cheap" or other names, don't pay attention, just keep on ventalating them! Doesnt the new scorpion tank on halo 2 have a hatch covering the operator? Also the tank has an exposed gas tank, so making it even for both sniper and tank operator.

Tanks are fun and half the time the people driving them are just doing it to either escort somebody else, draw attention from somebody else, or just to be stupid. BTW the machine Gun doesn't do ANYTHING at long range. About the only thing it does is soften a target you have cornered so you can finish them off when the rocket finally reloades.

Their probably totally pissed off how good you are. My friend is an ace with the SR. He seems to be able to get head shots without even trying. This really pisses me off at times, and i might slag him off for not being able to do anything else, etc, but in actual fact im just getting pissed about dying for the third time without knowing where he is. He is actuallyu the best player out of all of my group. I wouldnt say they're for wusses, they're for those that can use them, which unfortunately doesnt include me.

Hey dude in halo anything goes, if people didnt want you to dominate in halo they should of went to the game edit screen and changed the weapons its their fault so just keep doing what you do and they will either get really pissed at you or they will get better and learn to beat you or they will learn not to try you in halo ever again!

It takes a great deal of dexterity, but headshots are just as effective at killing your foe from 8 feet away as they are from 8000 feet away. And I greatly appreciate knives answer to the header question- amen, brother. And if others are using tactics that you think are "cheap", than if you can defeat them, then it is more power to you. There is always going to be those who, in your eyes, use cheap tactics. You just have to learn to overcome these tactics.
