Posted by: Lakeview Cub
Posted by: Teh Gorgotron but I suppose there are some things you can do with $650+ million that you can't do with $550+ million. :-/
Of course there is. Like invest in whatever new project Bungie will be working on. I hate to break it to you, but last time I checked, Bungie is a business that just broke away from Microsoft. That being the case, they will need extra income to finance the next game that will have half of you saying 'WOW' and half of you saying 'I want more'. In any event, don't complain about ten dollars because it isn't that much money. If you are living off your parents, I am sure they won't miss ten dollars seeing they have to feed you and send you to school week after week. If you actually have your own job and you still complain, then shame on you. You should have the financial freedom to SPLURGE and spend ten dollars. If you don't have that, then what the hell are you doing spending time and money on video games in the first place you nerd, get a real job.
If you do your homework, you'll stop forgetting that Microsoft staked development of the game this time around - just like the last two times - and they just broke away from Microsoft, so you can assure yourself Bungie gets less of that cut than you think. ("Halo 4" will be different, I suppose.) I have a huge problem with your argument, and everyone else when they use the same type of retarded logic, rooting for Bungie/Microsoft without really knowing why. "just do it man, it's only like $10 man, you've already spent all that $$ man, what's another $10?" Because, you idiot, just because I have the money doesn't mean I should have to pay it to them, or even to you. Do you actually pay for your own bills yet? Wash your own clothes, even? It's like taxes - you can pay more or less and get about the same results, so what's the difference? - the efficiency in how the funds are used, waste more and include more middle men and you need to give away more cuts - and I have more than a feeling that when I pay more, it's not like all of it's going to your beloved Bungie. ( I really wonder what % of the original crew even get to taste a cut of this map revenue.) Here's a funny revelation - this game was going to cost $60 whether or not it actually cost that much to develop it (I'll give you a hint, it didn't cost $60 a game when averaging what was sold in discs and LIVE subscriptions) - does that mean it's worth $60? Well, despite your stupid, naive opinions and your desire for Bungie to butt--blam!- you all the way to the bank, you're definitely right about one thing - if I'm buying their system and using their titles, I'm playing their "game", legally and literally. But we've already been introduced to a Microsoft that is somewhat duplicitous in the manufacturing of the 360 to begin with, is it really that hard to believe that we're being even the slightest bit screwed over? (And, oh, because they were "wrong" - I know, Microsoft being wrong? *gasp* - and had a large lawsuit being mounted against them, they completely revamped their warranty process, almost having to give back 1.5 billion in funds... Sucks to be them, but what do I really care, they shouldn't have let 1 of the original 3 manufacturing plants do such a -blam!- job.) Another funny revelation, if no one, absolutely no one, buys the maps until they're free, does Microsoft and Bungie shut down? Yeah, "development" my ass, they already had those maps paid for 10x's over. It's an issue of respect for the customer; just because you don't know how to fix your car doesn't mean I should charge you $400 to replace your brake pads. When you find out, you get ticked and all I'll need to do is tell you to "stop whining, nerd"? Here's an important catch - I'm the only mechanic in a 200+ mile radius, so it's my system, my rules. It's like Best Buy charging you $35 for replacing a hard drive - are you serious? Doesn't necessarily mean I should open my own shop and charge anywhere near that, I'd feel too dirty taking people's hard earned money like that. Next time you want to be the big man on the internet, pull your head out of your ass and counter with a legitimate argument, not something Bungie fed you while you were on your hands & knees polishing their love-rod and massaging their brown eye. There's making a great product (Halo 3), there's being tipped (me paying $60 a game when it cost less to make [per disc]), and there's taking advantage of the position you have over consumers - it's real fun playing a game when you don't get to make any of the rules. (hint: Sarcasm, it's really not that fun.) You really have $10 bills laying around the house for no apparent reason, and no reason not to spend any of them? Then send me a bill, you trust fund monkey, I like money just as much as Bungie does. Or maybe, in between your munchie breaks, you can sweep them all up into a giant pile and use them to pay for surgery to get your empty skull filled with something useful, maybe you'll start making sense then.
