As a final shout-out to Forge, Soteg6842 and I (DiJaDi) decided to make a couple last-minute additions to the terrific line-up of maps provided by the Halo 3 community. Both bases consist of a fully-stocked armory; one strategically-placed chaingun turret; and a wide, spacious 'fragzone' ideal for ranged combat. The carefully-designed structure between the bases adds an already-anticipated need for close-combat weapons, as well as diversifying the gameplay significantly and preventing it from ever growing stale. Simple in its design, this map completely supports any two-team gametype, and once again proves that complicity is overrated. Adding a maze-like element of walls and barriers, it transforms the open fragzone into an obstacle course built for strategic assaults. Additional turrets, stairs up either side for overhead defensive snipers, and the removal of the gravlifts that used to inhabit what still remains a devastatingly close-quarters structure make this into a much longer game with an italicized emphasis on defense. Just as is the case with Castle, Fortress was designed for 2-team gametypes of 4-16 players.
