Something wet this way comes in a stirring return to one of Halo 3's ponds. Also: Ears am exploded and Chris Butcher's big flyswatter.

Thanks for making me UberExcited for the Halo 3 audio, but where's Misterchief??? Next week he should be at the beginning of the update to make up for his omittance :P
-
I'm excited about the sounds and music score for Halo 3, since the 360 has way more potential for sound quality than the original Xbox (believe me I thought the Halo 2 sounds were amazing at the time and still do now). And yay for graphics, it wouldn't be a big deal to me if they weren't as good as Gears when H3 comes out. But who knows..
-
little long of an update

Thanks for the update Frankie. I'm a big fan of water effect and god rays. Farting noises, bad stenches, no. Those kill the framerate. Glad to hear Marty's music coming along. Ever since that tech demo at GDC, I've been anticipating what kinds of new things he will be doing for Halo 3... Don't forget, the Invasion is coming soon. Until then, press on...

Why cant we have good music on multiplayer ? I realize it cant be as interactive as campaign, but even having the bigger songs ramdomly play would be an improvement on silence, punctured by just moronchatter and gunshots
-
I love halo updates, but if I hear one more comment about water I'm going to drown someone. The sound engineering sounds amazing though, but a while back you guys gave us some info on the way combat was coming along as well as the sheer size of encounters. This is what I consider interesting, so COME ON guys give us some meat and potatoes with that WATER. we're hungry :)
-
So what they're saying is that the music in the levels, inbetween encounters and cinematics bungie has staged will in a way depend on what your doing as a character? If so thats wicked!
-
hmm nice so water reflects the Chief now?
-
Not a perfect update i just wanna hear more about the single player campaign and like the character advantages in some levels not the songs even though they do sound cool and all...
-
I want to fix bugs, it sounds easy. (haha)
-
sound is important, so if sound is good, the game will be better and water sounds in an early level... a rainforest with little ponds everywhere? an ocean? just some pond somwhere? we will never know, actually we will when it comes out, but for that time, we won't know
-
Think of the applications for this music technique I Hear of... not only will it ~EPIC-IFY~ (new word eh) single player, but imagine if it was used as a sort of radar in multiplayer... Just imagine if the music was all quiet and spooky to the point where the hair stands on end, then as you near, or an enemy nears, the music transitions to a short, yet more frantic tune, that makes it clear that danger is immenent. As combat ensues, the music explodes into an orchestral masterpiece that well suits the lust for blood in the air! and as you approach an ongoing battle, the music builds up to the climax just as you start shooting the bad guys!!!! such a godly musical wonder would change the way we us the radar, infiltrate an enemy base, and the way we play/enjoy the online sensation forever!! Just a thought... ~Clubinator~ [Edited on 06.17.2007 12:53 AM PDT]
Posted by: Botolf Given the size of the Beta download, it's really goofy what people expected of the water.
i was thinking the same thing, while playing the beta... then in his update frankie said "folks could go see it and judge for themselves. " about the beta. And that reminded me of how truly disappointing the water was. I remembered while playing the beta one day, all the time frankie spent talking up the water, and honestly it was not impressive at all. I spent many games trying to get impressed by the water and it just didnt feel like water to me... the only slightly "oh thats pretty sweet" moment i had was after dying, panning the camera under the water, and hearing the muffled sound. regardless... september better impress me... hopefully
Posted by: Death_691 Who gives a f u c k !!!!!!!!!!! Its a tight ass game so shut your damn mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Posted by: IIDWells55XII I personally found the water in the beta extremely disappointing given all the hype. It looks great when nothing is in it or affecting it, but once you're in it it isn't so great. The effects of vehicles such as the Hog or Mongoose going through it look like an Xbox 1 game, nothing special at all. There's hardly even a splash when a several ton Spartan hops into it, nor is water kicked up as you walk through it.

Well, aren't you mature. Grow up.

boring!

Now only if there was some lava or spike pits......

I have to say, I'm a fan of water effects too, I hope it's all good! But inclusion to water effects, I hope the underwater effects are just as good...
-
The finished version will have some sweet water effects from what i've read. For all those who whined about the water effects in the BETA,Bungie was going to iron all that out after it was done.
