While you should continue to pursue concept art, don't get dead set on getting a degree at a strictly art school. Look at local and state universities; they most likely offer programming and other degrees that could help you break into the gaming industry. and best part of all? its cheaper. like 50 to 75% cheaper (over 4 years) than a fine arts school.
What a developer will most likely look for in an interview is dedication, proof that you were able to pick a program and stick with it for four years. They will pay more attention to that then the name of your degree.
If you are looking into Art colleges to actually help or improve your artistic abilities; look into art communities, gallery classes, or live drawing sessions instead.
