Halo 2 PC multiplayer not working correctly.

Whenever I try to use quick match, the game responds with a matchmaking timed out error. When I try to join a game using the server browser, I can only join empty dedicated servers. Please help however you can. Thanks
Posted by: fortifythamind I just tried port forwarding, didn't help at all. I'm still getting the "you cannot join this party at this time, please try again later" error. I guess its single player for me :(
You shouldn't have to do this but it's worth a try...disable firewalls during the time you wish to play MP. Again, you should NEVER have to do this but there have been instances with games where it's been necessary for me, BF3 co-op and any of the COD games on Spec Ops (PC only) are good examples. See if that changes anything.
Posted by: Super PolarBear Thanks Willis for the info. Man it has been well over 2 years since I uninstalled H2V, so I was just curious to see what servers were still up and running. I was a pretty active player from 2007-2010, but the lack of support and hacking issues drove me away for good.
No problem, i did want to host a ranked H2V dedicated server with matchmaking playlists but it's probably much too late for something like that and is unlikely to spark interest. Halo CE on the other hand...

  • I've seen others suggest it to me before, but never tried it myself. I will try, but it looks a little confusing to me. Thanks!

Adding to what Syx said about Port Forwarding, it's important to note that quick match is useless on H2V for the most part. Port forward and then try joining games with just the server browser. That should fix the problem. Good luck OP.
