You and your 5 man squad of ODST's are in Old Mombasa after having successfully retrieved vital information concerning a Forerunner artifact that is buried beneath the sand.
The Covenant have got you and your squad surrounded: Jackel Snipers are posted on both the buildings to the right and the left, Elites are directly in front of you behind the walls, three Grunts are flanking you on the left whilst Jackels are doing the same on the right. A Pelican is on it's way to get you out of there but it won't arrive for another 15 minutes. Everyone is running low on ammunition in their Battle Rifles and the only other available weapons are:
A Shotgun (with 5 shells)
2x Assault Rifle (with 3 full clips)
A Sniper Rifle (with 2 full clips)
4x Magnum (with 6 full clips)
You want to get your team out alive but you know in the back of your mind that not everyone is going to make it.

You're that rank and you don't know that this is the wrong fourm for this stuff? You want the flood which is for off-topic stuff liek this, the reason this is off-topic is because it has nothing to do with Halo cannon. -Nate'

Hmm. I'd have one ODST with his pistol take out the three grunts coming on the left while he's in cover. Another will chuck a grenade at the jackals and clean up with a pistol. I'd pin down the Elites with grenades and some blind fire while the others try to pin down the jackals and the sniper take out the snipers. We would then kill/pin down the Elites until the Pelican would arrive. Don't know how many casualties I would have.
Posted by: Chester Duncan
Whilst it may not be direct canon, it's got canon elements in it if you look at it again. Plus, take a look at some of the other threads: what would your UNSC or Covenant ship name be; If you were an Elite (Sangheili), what would your name be? ... How are they canon? They're questions with which the members who reply can make up their own names; in this case they can make up their own scenario. [Edited on 08.20.2012 5:31 PM PDT]

If we're that outnumbered we're dead anyway.
Posted by: Chester Duncan cannon.
Do the Covenant have cannons too? Wouldn't surprise me.

Have three ODST's take on the Elites with the Assault Rifle ammo, one ODST take out with Grunts with a frag grenade, myself and another ODST take out the flanking Jackals with Shotgun and Magnum ammo and have one ODST pop in and out of cover with the sniper and take out the Jackal snipers. If everything goes to plan, 1 or 2 casualties max. Firefight should be over in about 5 minutes or so, giving us time to reposition to a more defensible location where we can await extraction.

Get two men to supress the snipers on the roof, they dont need to be killshots, just something to get their heads down. Then I would give the 2 ARs to the other 2 and keep the heads of the Elites down while I toss a frag between the grunts and flank to the left with the shotgun, when behind cover they can shift their fire to the jackals flanking while the final man zeros in the sniper and covers me. I will flank behind the Elites and close in with a combat knife and shotgun while he covers me and takes out targets I expose like Majors and hopefully their Field Master. Then when I'm down the surviving elites will rush the line, with the remainder of their BR ammunition the other men have saved, and 1 magazine of SR99 ammo left they should be able to hold the line and get out of there. OH GOD!! NOT MATHEMATICS!!! NOOOO!!! But seriously I would beat them to death with my bear hands. I'm playing on easy difficulty so its not as difficult as it sounds...
-
It'd help if there was a picture of this building. For now I can only think of general tactics: -Headshot Grunts, frag Jackals, use power weapons on Elites and stragglers -Grunts and Jackals swarm, Elites stay back and rarely charge -Covies highly responsive to gun fire shots and easily distracted by a thrown grenade (even when it's in the air) So for now, I'll say, I'd ditch the others and stealth every Covie. Make it that they were pinned down by it a Covenant Heavy unit and add a wraith and either a banshee or ghost patrol and give the good guys one laser fire and and some extra shotgun shells and id say youd have a more challenging scenerio.

I would destroy the Forerunner intel to stop it falling into enemy hands, because that sounds like an unwinnable situation for simple ODSTs. You would need backup. The Jackal snipers would kill anyone foolish enough to even poke their heads up for an instant, because not only do you need to raise your weapon, aim it and fire, you need to hope that you are firing on the correct position that the sniper is anywhere near, and hope that there isn't more than one in the building either to blow your brains out whilst you try to suppress his buddy downstairs. All that time wasted, and the odds of getting it right the first time is bound to be fatal when dealing with the marksmanship of Jackals. These guys react fast and rarely miss. Whilst you are pinned and almost completely unable to fight back due to those snipers, the Elites would grenade your position and then charge you (If you are still alive, that is), and slaughter you in CQC. Remember they are like Spartan-IIs physically and have energy shields, so they can take a little bit of suppressive fire head on to return the favour and counter-suppress, and will sprint over that distance in no time. You can't take any fire though.

I'll have the sniper take out the enemy snipers while 2 ODSTs will take out the grunts with pistols, remaining battle rifles. Me and 2 ODSTs engage the elites while the others flank.
-
get 2 of my squad to lock themselves in one of the rooms with the data, everyone else distracts the grunts.
-
Sniper takes out the Jackel Snipers on the left and right. Remaining rounds used on the Elites. Shotgun will take out the rest of the Elites when they get close. If not, then use the AR to take them down. Magnum with headshots on the Jackels on the right flank. Once the Grunts see that, they will run. Every lives.
-
Tell everyone to headshot the grunts and jackals. Then I draw the elite towards us and kill them with the shotgun. To conserve ammo, I take a plasma pistol and noob combo any other elites.

Die excruciatingly via superheated plasma.
-
Sounds doable. If we run out of ammo, we can just rush them with bayonets.
-
I wake up.
-
Call in an Air Strike. Duh.
-
its simple, i packed a Teleporter node in my back pocket
-
Snipe the jackal snipers, use the pistols for the flankers, and use the shotgun and the Assault Rifles for the incoming Elites.
-
Throw every grenade I have.
