I imagine the title says it all, but in case it doesn't: do you think it's possible to remain "just friends" with a former love interest?
Is there always gonna be that awkward tension in the air or has anyone here succeeded at a simple platonic friendship with an ex?
Even if you've never had a girlfriend (or boyfriend) before, just think about someone you once had a big crush on and whether or not you could ever "just be friends" knowing they didn't feel the same way.

You can be my friend.
-
Yes. I asked a girl out, she said no. She asked ME for relationship advice once, and we're still good friends.
-
inb4 friendzone nonsense.
-
"still being friends" with an ex is like a kidnapper asking to "keep in touch" after they free you for ransom
-
Friends with benefits
Posted by: funkbrotha10 "still being friends" with an ex is like a kidnapper asking to "keep in touch" after they free you for ransom
Yep, Stockholm Syndrome can be quite common with hostages so this comes as no surprise.

Im still very good friends with my ex. Although it doesn't work as we both still have feelings for each other and may end up going back out.
-
I'm friends with someone who had a crush on me. Not awkward at all.
-
When someone you like says "Let's just be friends." [FRIENDZONED] Then you will have a few days of hell until you don't give a crap about her..
-
No, it would kill me if I had to be with someone that didn't feel the same way.
-
Depends. Generally the lower the girl's intelligence, the faster I lose my tolerance.
-
They were in the show "Friends".
Posted by: TrussingDoor Depends. Generally the lower the girl's intelligence, the faster I lose my tolerance.
Why make it a point to date those type of girls in the first place then?
-
If my girlfriend ever dumped me I don't think I'd really want to know her anymore, but she won't so it's okay.

After time, sure. Immediately afterwards, not a chance in hell.
-
With an ex: HAHAHA -blam!- NO -blam!-! With you op: Of coarse we can.
-
Wtf why would that be awkward? I hate how awkward is almost mainstream, like wtf
-
Nope. The Friendzone is the 10th Circle of Hell.
-
Yes. The issue is people lack maturity in their teen/early 20's. It's not so hard to move on from a former love interest that turned sour. Some people just make it awkward because they can't deal with rejection.
-
I'm still friends with one of my ex's, and we don't have any problems. Of course, she's the only one with which the relationship didn't end on bad terms.
-
And so it is written in stone, tho shall feel forever awkward around former love interest.
-
Friendzone is better than not being friends at all. And no, that isn't beta, it's honest.
-
I'd still try to grab her ass even if "friends"
