• Because Bungie formed the He-Man Elite Haters Club (cookie for reference). The story was, 'eh'? It had the best story out of all the Halo campaigns... [Edited on 05.30.2012 12:40 PM PDT]

 • There's Elites, they're just dead. Remember ODST takes place during Halo 2, and also during the Covenant civil war with Elites vs. Brutes. And I agree, the story was meh.

 • There are Elites, they're just sleeping. There's an in-game phenomenon that will awake them, if not for only a few seconds. Search the darkest corridors of your imagination for... "zombie Elites". But if the Flood was in ODST, then there would be living Elites. They just wouldn't be themselves. • I can't imagine the elites would have any sort of role in it. It makes sense for all the elitites to be dead because they were assassinated by the brutes, and since this is the start of the civil war the elites will be busy fighting for their lives in the covenant ships and high charity. Right now earth is the last thing on their mind.

 • It's the whole Elite as-ally-thing in 3. A way of sidestepping the issue. The way the Arbiter only takes on (massively weak) Heretics. I thought the story was good, but, a few nasty Elite encounters would've been really cool; whatever's happening in the overall story arc. (But then again, I keep waiting for Sires in Gears' Horde mode...just for consistency...)

 • Because when the first portion of Truth's fleet arrives, the Brutes are under orders to kill the remaining Elites in the city. Also, most of the Elites were falling back to Regret's ship after he discovered the location to Installation 05 anyway. Also, this:
Posted by: path1k
Posted by: SpongyMallard7 Also to me the campaign was...well...eh
if ...well...eh means spectacular then i couldn't agree more
• Because it's part of a plot to replace Elites with Brutes. And I'm not talking about canon. Bungie likely preferred the H3 Brutes to the CE/H2 Elites. The H3 Brutes had distinct rank, distinct equipment (whereas Reach Elites only use armor lock), distinct armor (cheap Chieftains), they got some improvements in ODST (Chieftains use their invincibility when a rocket's about to meet them), they got a heck lot of attention from Bungie. Then came Reach and what we have is a bigger version of Reach firefight. A.k.a disappointing. Elites are dumbed down, Brutes are dumbed down, marines are dumbed down, etc. It's just sad. And the worst part is that critics and newer fans will be praising the enemy AI, welcoming the grittiness and lack of refreshing dialogue and exploration. From what I've seen, this is a world of generics. Games like ODST are merely treasured because they're older, not because of their value. Well I have just one thing to say... the Reach hate will forever be strong in me.
Posted by: nesteggfailure It's the whole Elite as-ally-thing in 3. A way of sidestepping the issue. I blame this: no distinguishing qualities. It's odd that their leader can leap but never uses it. Might as well have given that to the Heretics. If their melees could do damage, then they'd be able to jump behind you and assassinate you. [Edited on 05.30.2012 10:03 PM PDT]
