Evolution Question

Just curious, why aren't monkeys evolving into humans? And why are there still monkeys then if we evolved from them? Okay just to edit because people are being idiots which is expected but I am genuinely curious. Can someone just post either a link or give me a quick paragraph on explaining evolution? It isn't that organisms are on an inevitable path, progressing in stages towards humankind, it's random. Adaptations are (within the constraints of reducible complexity, et cetera) for the survival of the genetic material. That's not random.
Theoretically, it is. It's the natural state that the most well adapted will survive and reproduce. Whereas the ill-prepared die. Its entirely random what progression takes place and depends on genetic variance. The random affect of adaptation whilst the poorly adapted survive and the less well adapted die is simply common sense.
While mutations are obviously random, evolution is the selection for some genotypes over others; this isn't random, the most beneficial phenotype is what perpetuates, not a random one.
Plus, not all mutations are random. Such as cytosine, which can be methylated by a certain protein and then can spontaneously rearrange to become thymine.

 • We didn't evolve directly from modern day monkeys. We had a common ancestor many many years ago. This common ancestor evolved into three different branches: humans, chimpanzees, and bonobos. The common ancestor died out and left its legacy. We did NOT evolve from modern day monkeys. It's a huge misconception.

Can someone just post either a link or give me a quick paragraph on explaining evolution? Jeez
Flood equals a#*holes most of the time. Valid question. There is no link either. There is no proof that we came from apes. I love how people shoot down the possibility of a God so fast. I mean look around at everything. Doubt a big bang did all this lol /thread
Because the big bang theory states that all came from a singularity and that everything developed from there as a series of natural progressions and that we have come from hydrogen atoms. It doesn't need a creator, as everything had to come from nothing... Where is god needed in this theory? And creationism is very wrong, so that's not the answer... Clearly us blindly guessing at a god and believing ourselves to have hit the nail on the head via blind guesswork is just stupid... Out of the infinite possibilities of creation, what makes anyone think that by guessing they will have incidentally hit the answer? Clearly assuming God exists is just stupid. The holy books aren't supposed to be interpreted metaphorically; they were intended to be interpreted literally whence they were written; clearly some people believe that we stemmed from Adam and Eve, but even then people say it's supposed to only be interpreted metaphorically; it's not, it's literal. And that didn't happen, therefore why would God exist? Just because we can't prove that he doesn't exist, doesn't mean to say that he does, because guessing that there is a Lord without any kind of evidence just because it isn't disprovable is stupid, because we shouldn't ASSUME anything. Without any inclination that he exists and with only guessing at a creator, why would he exist? Clearly people forget to take into account that the Big Bang Theory is proven more so than Creationism, but that, unlike creationism, the Big Bang Theory doesn't need a creator, nor does natural selection and we KNOW that evolution exists because of all of the evidence proves that it is so and strongly proves that natural selection is the theory behind evolution's mechanism, but that these are what happened, not creationism... Why does God even have a place in all of this? People say that perfection cannot be accomplished without a creator, but why not? And why is it assumed that there is even such thing as perfection? Clearly things naturally get assimilated to their environment over time and those that don't go extinct. Clearly it's a natural selection without the need of a creator to be existent and without any evidence that there is one... Why do we assume that God exists when there's no evidence to suggest so??? Saying that we can't disprove him isn't good enough because if you can't prove him, it makes more sense to assume that he DOESN'T exist. So really why would he? That's a stupid, unfounded guess, and I don't understand why, after all these centuries of gathering information, why we still assume that he exists when there's no inclination that he does and that anything that people says that says that they can prove that god does exist can easily be undermined by logic, rationale, and facts... Therefore... Why do we still assume God exists after all these centuries of not getting any proof he does? It's not logical...
*Applauds
Thank you ^^

It depends on the species' environment and that's why apes still exist; they're the best adapted to live in the jungle, whereas we're the best adapted to live in man-made cites. That's why they both exist.
