What are your views on "game" clothing.

Most of the kids at my school that wear anything related to gaming like a Halo hoodie or a Left 4 Dead t-shirt get talked down on. Most of them are kind of weird or no one really knows them so that doesn't help the image. I don't care for it but I would never wear anything game related like a Mass Effect hoodie or anything at all. The only exception to gaming related clothes I would wear is a plain black t shirt with a Gears of War omen on it. Not because I like the game but because I like how it looks it seems to be my style and since my friends aren't hardcore gamers and the only game big in between them is Gears of War they would think it's pretty cool / not care. Honestly I know most people don't care what other people think of them so I understand if I was into game clothing I wouldn't care about people laughing behind my back as long as I was happy. So what do you think? Is it begging to be laughed at? Is it just something no one would care about? Is it something people give compliments on? [Edited on 04.08.2012 6:12 PM PDT]

 • I wear Halo clothing quite often. I even have a pair of ODST and UNSC dogtags.

 •
Posted by: True Underdog
Posted by: halomaster10144 It's pretty -blam!- stupid to wear to school. You're essentially saying that you're beyond an average gamer, and to the point where you're probably somewhat of a dork/loser. All I ever really wear is American Eagle.
That's why being an adult is great. Nobody really gives a -blam!-.
And thank God geek/gaming culture reference IRL is pretty lax in here. For me, I've never wear any gaming clothing since the shipping is expensive but if I eventually wear it, I prefer it to be subtle not something that says "LAWL I PLEYH TEH VIDJOGAEMZ" Well maybe I'll wear the Shepard hoodie (as soon as my uncle get back here) in a geek convention or something [Edited on 04.09.2012 12:42 AM PDT]

 • People should just wear what they want to wear, I honestly couldn't care less what people would think of me if I wore something video game related.

 • American Eagle? Haha we have a sheeple over here. I would prefer growing up as an above average gamer, then a regular moron who buys overpriced brand clothing and is a parent by the age of 16. • If you wear the kind of game clothing that could be interchangeable with a collage of a pack of wolves then I don't like it. If, however, it's actually cool, like MOST of the clothes on the Bungie store, then sure, knock yourself out. EDIT: Also, some of the Minecraft merch is pretty cool [Edited on 04.08.2012 11:45 PM PDT]

 • Wear whatever the -blam!- you want. Clothes are clothes. If ever got a shirt from Metal Arms: Glitch in the System or Star Wars Battlefront, I'd wear that -blam!- all the time.

 • When I do wear tee shirts, I tend to avoid large, obnoxious graphics, because they draw attention away from the face, but smaller, less noticeable graphics are perfectly fine. And as for the sports/band tee argument, those shouldn't really be worn except at a game(or on game day/ around the TV for games) or concert.

 • If it's comfortable and doesn't look terrible, I'll wear it. I don't get this obsession with looking like everyone else, or even trying to stand out. I'm me, I dress like me.

 • I own a Dead Space tshirt. Its full black but has the low red health bar on the back like in read space. Only people that played dead space know its a game tshirt. You gotta get stuff like that.

Admittedly, I had the same outlook on clothing when I was in high school (and the same style as you, too). Currently I only have five gaming shirts: BE A HERO (Haiti Charity ODST Shirt), Castle Crashers, PAX 2011, Burn Bright Burn Blue, and an HFCS shirt. I normally wear nice button down shirts or polos when I go out to bars or parties but nothing like the American Eagle, Aeropostale, and Hollister shirts that make you look like a walking billboard, like I did when I was in high school and parts of college. If there are any logos on the clothing I wear, they are barely visible. Unless it's a college shirt but that has more to do with pride than being showy for the sake of being showy. Just hanging around the house, going to a buddy's house? I'll throw on a t-shirt and my gaming shirts are in the mix. e: That said, I respect those who wear gaming shirts and sport their hobbies proudly because they're a hell of a lot more secure with themselves than I was when I was in high school, which is a much more admirable trait than buying some crappy overpriced gaudy clothes - and that isn't a knock on expensive clothing; it's a knock on overpriced clothing. There's a difference. [Edited on 04.08.2012 9:48 PM PDT]
