What is the CANON explanation to Sgt. Johnson's Survival?
I've always been curious. First Strike mentions his "Boren's Syndrome" saved him from infection, but I heard that the Halo Graphic Novel was monitored by Bungie in it's creation.
So what is it? Did his condition save him? Or did he escape heroicly?

The Halo Graphic novel talks about the "Paris/BS spoof", while also heavily hinting towards Johnson being a Spartan-I. This would mean that the Boren's syndrome is a cover-up for him being a S-1; ONI or some other secret service needed something to explain his specialty. He most likely survived the first infection attempt thanks to his S-1 augmentations, and then fought out.
