Theory on "Halo 4 Planet".(Please Read)

Halo 3 legendary Ending: After the collapse of the slipspace portal, Cheif and Cortana are left floating in the middle of space. After a bit of dialouge, Chief hops into Cryo. Next we see the Forward unto Dawn floating toward an unknown planet. This planet has a Forerunner look to it. This planet is collectivly known as the "Legendary Planet". Halo 4 Teaser: Cortana wakes Cheif out of Cryosleep. Cheif runs through whats left of the Forward Unto Dawn. Cheif uses EVA thrusters and a hand-held 'nade launcher, the shot pulls out. We see a massive construct in the distance. Then the trailer ends. Conclusion: I was wondering what the construct ccould be. It hit after re-reading Ghosts of Onyx and I can't belive I didn't see it before. The "Construct" that is seen is a Forerunner Shield World. It is easiest to tell when you look at the wallpapers 343i has released for Halo 4. You can easily see the petal-like objects that would surround the entrance to the Micro-Dyson Sphere. I also believe this planet is the Legendary Planet. The planet, being a shield world, would eventually have to open after the firing of the Halo Array. The arrival of a "Reclaimer" may have triggered the creating of a doorway out of the planet. The Forerunners may have added this as a feature to the world to prevent them from exiting until Humanity had advanced enough to reach the Shield World. This would explain the sudden changes in the planets outward appearance. EDIT: The planet I am referencing is NOT Onyx, it is stated numerous times that Onyx was destroyed. This planet is a different Sheild World. But they can change that part and I wouldnt mind.
Who says it's a shield world? The hell is he going to do on a bomb shelter. Please i want to know, why would MB send MC and Cortana to a shield world? It's something different.
they drift to the shield world and find the other Spartans that were trapped in onyx's portal. id say there has to be an exit, and they need to wrap up their story
1) The Antechamber Portal sealed itself, there is no entrance to the Dyson Sphere. 2) The Dyson Sphere is the size of a fish bowl in normal space, the Dawn is significantly larger. 3) Karen Traviss is continuing that particular story. 4) Ghibalb was rendered uninhabitable due to early attempts at stellar manipulation by the Forerunners.

 • Or if it's none of these theories then it might be the Forerunner homeworld

 •
Posted by: PLUT0NIUM 235 based on the trailer and the promo image this 'world' isn't that large, possible hundreds of miles in diameter but not 'world' sized. look at the promo image and check out the curvature, now do some estimation based on the known size for a Frigate (~500 metres long), take into account half of it is missing so lets call it ~300 metres. so for one would estimate the 'shield world' is no more than 500 kilometres or so across on the outside, perhaps less, which suggests its one of those 'extra-dimensional' jobs like Onyx rather than the 'hollow-world' style one in Halo: Wars.
From the end of halo 3 I think it is safe to say that it is world size, but it is also safe to say that it is DEFINITELY not dyson sphere sized. A slip space dyson sphere is a few meters in diameter while a regular dyson sphere is ~200 million miles in diameter. It would have to be the 'hollow-world' style shield world like in Halo Wars.

 •
Posted by: ajw34307
Posted by: Dark3nd Av3ng3r Best theory I've heard yet and the only solid evidence I've seen that the planet is indeed Onyx as many have already speculated, Good Find
Urgh, almost 4 years and people are STILL saying this rubbish. Onyx was destroyed, the FENRIS warheads detonated and tore the surface apart. The Sentinels that formed the planet split apart and begun engaging the Covenant fleet, they left only the Micro Dyson Sphere which is just larger than a fishbowl in normal space. The Legendary Planet may be a Shield World, but it's bloody well not Onyx.
I know! I'm kind of sick of it too! I just hope Bungie does a good job with Halo 4... Just kidding guys! This is probably one of the better theories I've seen. Seeing as the forerunners could travel ridiculously fast through slipspace, I bet the planet is a shield world that the chief gets trapped in. How long was the timer for the "lock" on the "door" of the shield world in Onyx? Considering what Mendicant Bias said in the final terminal, he (it?) could have rerouted the portal to the shield world as "atonement for his sins" or whatever, and the chief gets there right before it closes. I just want to know why the chief has a grenade launching pistol and if we'll see forerunners.

 •
Posted by: Dark3nd Av3ng3r Just because Onyx was destroyed doesn't mean jack -blam!-. We've seen that the games are perfectly capable of breaking the Book Cannon (cough... Reach... cough). In TFoR, Noble Team didn't exist, Cortana was already on the Autumn, there was no delivery. All I'm saying is that we can't rule out that 343i won't break cannon or that they won't come up with an excuse for Onyx being rebuilt. Remember that Installation 04 was rebuilt once before. So isn't it plausible that Onyx, being a Shield World, would be repaired?
If you want to be technical, Halo: Reach may be ONI propaganda judging from the contents of the Legendary Edition. Therefore, no canon is broken. Or, it was a retcon, not breaking canon, but changing it to support new canon. But that's for another day. You say maybe the Onyx Shield World was rebuilt. By what? The surface was composed of trillions of interlocked Sentinels. No Sentinel production facility, no new Sentinels.

First of all the reason why Bungie have changed the fall of reach canon is because they want to make a game in that period(unless they planned this for a long time). In this case you are assuming that Halo 4 takes place on Onyx. Onyx is nothing more then one of the hundred of shield worlds in the galaxy. Please explain why MB would send the Chief to Onyx, why not other shield worlds? They can't rebuild Onyx as the sentinels are destroyed as well(Encycloepdia claims this). So who would rebuild it huh? If it was rebuild then it would have been terraformed. The theory that Onyx is the legendary planet are nothing more then hopes and dreams from fans who want it to be Onyx, jsut like those idiots who thought it was Reach. If you think it's Onyx, please give me solid evidence instead of assumptions pulled out of the ass of a fan dream. Wake up man,it isn't Onyx.If people can so easily claim it's Onyx then we can as well claim it's Harvest or Sanghelios without evidence. I'm waiting...

It would require a ultimate numbers of resources... Rings on ark were build of the resources who were gathered from the gigantic planet in the center of it... And it was a special planet cuse it had a big ass percent of it(metal), the planets who were surrounding the onyx wouldn't hawe enought resources to build even 5% of a shield world(ok ok maybee im whong 20%)

So isn't it plausible that Onyx, being a Shield World, would be repaired?
um no and just because 1 game effed things up does not mean we should keep the trend going, not to mention that 343i has more respect for the series than bungie does. and TFoR had nothing to do with SIIIs which is why they weren't in the book. Didact built an array of shield worlds in which the primary purpose of them was to attack the flood without too much collateral damage. The shield world in GoO was a fallout sheleter and has no reason to be rebuilt after the shell is destroyed (not to mention that there could be dozens more out there). Shield worlds do not have a reason to be rebuilt unlike halos. while that may seem like a contradiction, keep in mind that the halo's were meant to be found by humanity so far it doesn't seem like the shield worlds were. o and it isn't onyx

 • Nice theory, although I've grown tired of people thinking it's the shield world to the other Spartans. It's not story! More than 75% of the Halo fans haven't read Ghost of Onyx! You run into Spartans you've never heard of? It wouldn't make sense to them. Thus why Bungie altered Halo: Reach from the book.
