How to Unlock Elite Armor Sets
We know that Elite Armor will not be unlocked via Credits or achievements but instead through Ranking.
(This Does not include [url=http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4004/4541938011_9af46dfc5f.jpg][b]Officer[/b][/url], which is unlocked by purchasing limited or legendary edition)
You will be able to use the armor you unlocked in Elite Gametypes, which so far to what we know are limited to Invasion, Generator Defense, Firefight Versus, and Covie Slayer.
So what do you think will be the requirement for unlocking each type of armor?
The only one i think is known for sure is the rank of Elite Ultra, whose' requirement was stated as a rank of Warrant Officer in Bungie Weekly Update 06.11.10.
My Speculations are that since in the [url=http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14276699/halo-project/videos/halor_armory_montage_072210.html?show=hi]IGN Armory Video[/url] The User is Ranked at Corporal, and only has the Minor and Spec-Op. Meanwhile in the [url=http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline10/080610/ELITES/RANGERb.jpg] Bungie Preview [/url] With a rank of Sergeant the player has unlocked also Ranger.

I heard something about how you need to be a General for General armor. I believe it was on Halopedia, so it could be false

Incrementing Hierarchy Rank requires Higher prerequisites, do you not see a pattern here?

As for achievements i do not believe they will be used for Elite Armor since in the weekly update they only mention Rank advancement.However thats not confirmed,

You unlock the armor set by progressing in the ranking system. But to be able to wear an armor set, you need to purchase it through cR. BTW, Field Marshall is definitely the highest rank, its the last armor set to unlock.

those Elite armours look amazingly awesome, can't wait to get my hands on them. I'm not allowed to pay all the money for the Officer armour though, I really hope Bungie has mercy on the poorer fans that love Reach and let us get it through doing a new kind of vidmaster achievement system I think you're pretty close to how the armour will be unlocked in the game, they may introduce more ranks so we'll just have to wait and see really... Some people disagree and say its the General. If it was, why would Field Marshall be at the bottom? Anyway, I don't know if its an actual rank in the Ranking System but who knows?

However i do believe they should add more armor sets and ranks, The Amount of Ranks currently available are surprisingly small compared to the amount of Halo 3 ranks. I am personally Hoping for Arbiter, Councilor, and Honor Guard armor (I know General is a lot like Honor Guard, but it isn't the same)

It would make no sense if the General was a higher rank though if its higher on the list.

It is also clear that there are more ranks than the emblems shown [url=http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline10/BWU_071610/InlineArmory.jpg]One Higher rank not shown:Lt.Colonel Grade 1[/url] So rest assured there will be plenty of room to advance.

You still have to buy them with credits! It's only possible to buy after a certain rank. Edit:Your officer picture looks like its just an ultra and not really the limited edition variation. [Edited on 08.07.2010 9:34 AM PDT]

field marshal by definition is the correct term for the highest rank in the military it is a 5 star rank/ 5 star general. technically a field marshal is a general. in the covinent army the councilor is the highest rank a Sangheili can achieve.

To unlock Zealot armour you need to have bought all the helmets and unlocked the achievement 'your heresy will stay at your feet'. Then you get it unlocked and can play with it and use it. Hope it helps...

I believe arbiter is a very high rank aswell. According to the book i read, sure they are already high ranked elites going to a suicide mission. (Halo 3 arbiter was a fleet master) To clarify this prophet said to arbiter when he received the armor or anyway at the time he was given that armor that it is a very powerful?! armor piece made by the forerunners. I havent read or heard this scene for a long time however, im not sure. But in my eyes arbiter is the highest possible rank for sangheili...but they will die. (unlike arbiter in halo 3 who survived in the halo 2 events which was clearly not expected) Prophets are ugly bastards! :P Elites ftw!

That doesn't make any sense, you can't buy the helmets they are already unlocked. I have the achievement.

You most likely unlock the sets when you've progressed through the ranks, me thinks. Either way, the Officer set that I got with my Limited Edition copy will suit me fine for the upcoming months.
