HoW gave us:
1. Etheric Light
2. Increased Legendary drops in crucible and strikes.
3. No ghosts, artifacts, or class items with light.
4. Nightfall still gave 500 rep, blue flame skull, and weekly xp bonus.
5. Nightfall actually dropped decent loot instead of ghosts, emotes, and sparrow horns.
6. Faction rep was not split with Vanguard rep.
7. Bounties gave 5000 rep instead of 3000.
8. Weapon Reforging.
9. Exotics dropped frequently enough that 3oC were unnecessary.
10. Xur sold exotic shards.
11. Prison of Elders, Vault of Glass, AND Crota's End all gave gear that could be ascended to 365.
12. Trials of Osiris had random Matchmaking.
13. Weapons and Armor were maxed out by using Etheric Light that we EARNED, and not dependent on getting lucky 320 drops.
14. Raid weapons were actually worth using and not just infusion food.
15. Elemental primaries.
16. No timegated weapons, armor, shaders, emblems, quests, or subclasses. (Seriously, who at Bungie thought this was a good idea?)
17. No skill-based Matchmaking.
18. Black Hammer was actually useful. (It deserved to be an exotic with the ORIGINAL White Nail Perk.)
19. PvP was completely balanced with the exception of EXOTIC handcannons only. (Don't know why you had to go and ruin all of them when only 3 of them were a problem.)
20. Fusion rifles weren't jokes.
21. Shotguns weren't jokes. (And amazing in pve.)
22. Our perks weren't ruined and replaced with garbage ones. (Perfect Balance, Flared Magwell, FIELD SCOUT, Hammer Forged, Rangefinder, Shot Package.) Seriously, EXHUMED, RESCUE MAG, GRAVEROBBER, PARTIAL REFUND, CASKET MAG, OILED FRAME, REINFORCED BARREL, SPEED RELOAD, HAND LOADED, INJECTION MOLD, EYE OF THE STORM, AND GUERILLA FIGHTER ARE ALL GARBAGE! (At least back then we could reforge a weapon if it got any of these abysmal perks.)
23. We had 9 strikes in rotation. (Nexus, Devil's Lair, Archon Priest, Summoning Pits, Valus, Omnigul, Taniks, Undying Mind, Psion Flayers.) Now we still have 9, but it's Dark Blade, Cabal Brothers, Omnigul, SABER, Flayers, Valus, Echo Chamber, Taniks, and Undying Mind. Bungie added 4 strikes and took away 4 strikes. What was the point of that?
24. No microtransactions.
Now, just for the sake of being fair, I'll list the things HoW got wrong, and the things TTK got right.
Fails of HoW:
1. Final round sniping still existed.
2. Trials of Thorn.
3. Everyone reforging for god roll weapons. (Shortgaze, Hidden Hand, Snapshot, Unflinching Benevolences. Aggressive Ballistics, Shot Package, Hammer Forged, Luck in the Chamber Felwinter's. Warhead Verniers, Tripod/Clown Cartridge, Javelin, Grenades and Horseshoes Ash Factories.) Seriously there should have been a limit on how many times you could reroll a single weapon. Or just increase the price with each reroll.
Things TTK got right:
1. Strikers and Defenders got buffed.
2. Weapon parts are purchasable.
3. King's Fall requires the most teamwork in a raid since VoG. (Even though the loot system is garbage.)
4. The story is better. Better cutscenes. Better dialogue. More characters.
5. More subclasses and exotics (even though they were all timegated.)
6. Different color ghost shells. (Even though they made the terrible mistake of adding light to them.)
7. Challenge modes (that aren't challenging at all) provide guaranteed loot. Something only seen previously in Trials and PoE.
8. Kiosks for everything.
9. Sparrow Racing. (Even though it was a test phase, it was still fun.)
10. Firing the CEO. (It had to be done.)
11. Ability to reforge exotic armor.
12. Hadronic Essence, Plasteel Plating, and Sapphire Wire were all consolidated.
13. Swords.
14. Ability to skip cutscenes.
15. New crucible game modes.
That's all I can think of for now. What do you all think? Personally, I'd take HoW over TTK any day. This is just my own list of the pros and cons. If you think of anything I missed, go ahead and post it in the comments. I just want Bungie to see how great Destiny once was. However, I also want them to know that they did get some things right. Hopefully they will consider this information when making changes in the future.

Awesome list.

8. Weapon Reforging. This broke the game. Whats the point of this? If u can reforge all the weapons, u dont need more than ONE weapon, with the perks u wish. So, theres no point in play anymore. I hate the reforging system.
-
This list is accurate af. Good job, man.

HoW was not better than TTK for one simple reason: You could hit max level on the same day as it released, it was way too easy (now I'm not saying that TTK is perfect in this aspect either with its double RNG - but it's better). This also means I strongly disagree with #1 of your list, etheric light was a terrible idea (I'm not saying that the ability to bring older gear up to new light level is a bad idea, only how it was executed - it was too easy to max your level) - infusion is a lot better system, and I honestly think its here to stay - I bet we'll be able to bring the TTK stuff with us through infusion if we so desire as the light level get bumped in the future.

Did they really get away with selling us content then making irrelevant??did that really happen.......
-
In my opinion house of wolves was the best time in destiny
-
Auto Rifles sucked back then when up against everything else.
-
bump ..(on everything except for weapon nerfs)..
-
I didn't read the whole thing but house of wolves lasted 2 weeks and etheric light is not better than infusion, infusion can be used forever so you can continue to keep the same gear
-
So right its damn near the perfect example of what we want. I reran VoG just cause i prefered the armor for my titan. 365 and awesomeness. Shame what is happening now with the grind to infuse

Great post but TTK was waaayyyy bigger than the tiny HoW so can't agree art. Even if u like the story better or are more interested in the fallen there is no way it's better. It offered not even a sliver of material/weapons or new areas compared to TTK. Plus Etheric light was the worst idea Bungie ever had in terms of actually acquiring it.
-
Pretty much right on man. Where you been on all my posts about this the of stuff?

Huge bump...nice posr

Crushed it. Here's hoping they can wade through all the crappy forum posts and find this one. Cheers, and BUUUUUUMP

I actually quite like infusion, as you can keep weapons you like and level them up instead of having to discard them and use something stronger when they get maxed out. Maybe they could combine infusing weapons and having to earn an etheric light which you could slot into a weapon to give it elemental damage. 3 slots per weapon and you can toggle between the elemental damage like you could with murmer

Knocked this one out of the park

I'll bump you. However I will say that reforging was brilliant, leveled the playing field and allowed players to play like they wanted. The issue with God Rolls wasn't reforging. It was that only one specific roll per weapon was really viable (or at least one perk being mandatory. Like shot package. Which is Rangefinder nowadays). This didn't change with TTK. There's still one specific god roll per weapon category/archetype, however it got much harder to achieve due to RNG and pretty bad drop rates. This means that the removal of reforging actually made PvP less balanced and PvE less fun (as there were some pretty nice PvE perk variants). (In reality, it ended with every serious PvP players keeping Y1 weapons and reforging them to something useful in the current meta)

Number 8 is why it wasn't better.

Agree, exept HoW part 19 and 21. 19. Crusible has never been balanced, even when exotic hand cannons ruled was unfair but autorifles was garbage back then also. 21. Shotguns are not a joke, atleast not in PvP. But i agree with PvE part, idk why they nerfed them, now all im using in KF is black spindle or 1000 yard, back in VoG, CE and PoE i used lot of shotguns also.
