What a terribly sad day for my favorite game! The "damage referee" idea comes out of the 1990 toolbox of backward solution creation! I wonder if anyone took 2 min to think this thru. My FireTeam and I live in South Africa and when I play Crucible alone, I have a green status bar but the min were 3 or more in a party with VOIP, our status will inevitable drop to red. Don't get me wrong, HATE lag switchers and actually took a sabbatical for 3 months because of these cheaters ruining the game for me but to think this is now a good idea for anyone outside of those living "in the US" is terribly short sited! The sad thing is that my FireTeam's slowest connection is a 10Mb line but if we get anyone NOT in South Africa we will have to connect across a continent. What I don't get is that developers and games like CoD or TitanFall isn't suffering from lag switching. Titan Fall is running of Microsoft Azure (Cloud) and the connection is always constant and reliable, why cant Bungie/Activation think like its 2016 and think of dedicated servers or hosting Destiny in the Azure Cloud???
So now because I don't live in "the States" I'm lagging and is classified as a cheater?! What a sad, sad, sad day! what a great new way to discriminate!
Yours regretfully Eish69

Just edit and use US instead of Texas. Specifying a state for no reason is just confusing people
-
As far as i know discrimination is against the law so i guess scumgie want to get sued for discrimination so because i live in Australia and not yanktown they are going to classify me as cheater well they can go take a long walk on a short pier
-
Well it goes with their 1990's peer to peer hosting so why are you surprised lol
-
The problem is that activision does not believe that dedicated servers will draw enough money in to justify its cost. Bungie is working with the funding they have to merely keep the game afloat.
-
I heard that South Africa was a world leader in discrimination- OP probably know what he's talking about...

Ffs 10mb

Why do you keep mentioning Texas?
-
Why would Texas matter?
-
Bump. Well educated.
-
What I got out of this comment is that you hate Texas for some reason.

Edited by alvin2503: 2/7/2016 9:54:26 AMThey could've put a ping limit where if your ping is too high, you get kicked.

10mb? GTFO. Might as well be on dial up homey
-
Should called it Johnny Mnemonic!

if your net is shit your net is shit. geolocation has nothing to do with it.
-
So why does it have to be Texas?

Just to be clear, I think America is a beautiful country and most of the Americans I have met on my travels there have been lovely people. My comments are directed at Bungie not Americans in general. With that said, Bungie seem to be under the impression that no where outside of US borders exists, or if it does then it is of no relevance. Examples of this are the Red Bull promotion last year, which people certainly in Europe could not access ( I suspect that the same applied in other parts of the world). I read that they had partnered up with Red Bull which if true would mean that any future promotions between the two would probably be inaccessible to those outside the American continent. Another example is the pricing of DLC s etc where Bungie seem to think that all overseas currencies are exactly equivalent to US dollars. In one post they admitted that they did not understand all that exchange rate stuff , disingenuous, because of course they do, they just are not bothered. All of the above would be fine if their product was just sold in the US and not heavily marketed to the rest of the world. As it is sold to us,they owe as much duty of care to their overseas customers as their American customers. The problem with lag could be mitigated to a certain extent if they had dedicated servers but instead they choose to penalise those, who through no fault of their own have less than ideal Internet. I am sure that in parts of the US the Intenet is worse than it is in parts of the rest of the world. In the interests of clarity my own Internet ihas a ping averaging 10 and great upload and download speeds. There are, however, times I red and yellow bar because SBMM and its hybrids have put me in a match with people scattered world wide. I do not know what action they are going to take but I sincerely hope whatever it is it will be fair to everyone, those with good and bad Internet both in the US and elsewhere
-
Jesus, the Internet wasn't even available for home use in 1990. That said, every game out there other than destiny has "damage ref"; it's called predictive lag management.
-
I have the same problem I live in northern Ontario and have the fastest internet available. When I am in a fire team of friends I have connection issues in pvp. Pve is fine though.
-
It works both ways. If I'm the only American in a match full of foreigners I will be the one getting beat down by the referee. Will they get dedicated servers? No probably not. That cost extra money
-
Unfortunately for South Africans it doesn't matter if you are running solo or with a fireteam.. EVERYTIME I am paired anyone from your country you guys are ALWAYS redbarred... so that makes you very tough to deal with in the crucible... there have been too many times that I have just up and left matches because of it.. (no sense in fighting against an unkillable opponent)
-
lol, bungie always using the axe technique lol!
-
End result is the same...you are still 'teleporting' across my screen or have entered 'god mode'. How is that fair for the other team? If I lose I want it to be based on skill not a laggy Internet connection.
-
Just come to Texas. I'll buy you a beer.

Edited by QBAN_007: 2/6/2016 10:52:05 AMI have a q? How long does it takes the Internet to go from South Africa to USA? I live in Florida , should I move to Washington state to get better signal strength

If you want to play Destiny, move from Africa to Seattle so you can have decent internet. Thanks.
