Bungie, you seem to be losing!

OK, so here is my take. You make things harder, rather than setting up multiple levels. When you make bullet sponges bigger sponges, doesn't make it harder, only longer. When you restrict the playable area, that people could once do things, you make it less fun - not more challenging. You nerf guns, as if that is what need to be done to make the game better, when that facts are, you need to fix actual bugs and stop taking things away from players. For instance, the loot cave. Yes people complained, but people liked it and would play longer. So what if they stayed there longer; so what if they could get better stuff in other areas. They felt as it was fun, that is what is important. Just because some people didn't like it, doesn't mean that it helped people play the game longer. Had you made them actually know that better stuff would drop by doing other things, they wouldn't have constantly gone to the loot cave. Your random drops are just plain stupid. You should have set up the system to limit the drops to a players level. When someone did a quest (mission) and their reward was less than what they got from the drops, then why would they really try to find a chest, or want to rerun missions? Make them have better drops, and give people an incentive to rerun things, not force them, then give them lousy gear that doesn't give them things that they could use; Why not make each piece of gear (of each "level" or type) different values for dismantling. Stop making all these different leveling systems. Why not make it just one! Ok, so you might need more "shards," "light," or whatever to level something up, but having something different every time is just plain stupid. Plus, you are then requiring more vault space for the different things. Really stupid idea. Why over hype what is coming, once you have decided how it is going to be done? Why do you not put it out in the news and see what peoples reactions are to the idea? That would give you a better idea on how well it will be received. Plus, by doing this, the player base would at least feel as if they are involved in actually improving the game. You have lost a lot of people, and it seems you are not taking notes as to why. You seem to think that your professionals (your "psychologists") in the "User Research Department" will keep people addicted and can make them do what you want them to do. Well, they can do some of that, but it only takes time before (as you should be seeing) that people will turn on you. After all, when you try to fully control things, the things you try to control always turns on you. Reread Frankenstein, I Robot, and many other stories; if story’s won't help, then go back through history. You created Destiny and hoped for something different and hoped for something great. Well, it could have been great, but you are messing up big time.

  • Dude, don't you get tired of beating your head against a wall? Haven't touched Destiny since I started The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It's a great game that actually has things like a full story, dialogue, and content that you aren't required to do over and over again.
