I miss halo when it was actually halo.

Halo 5 is a good game but it just isn't the stuff many people who got into OG halo want.
Classic halo was simple and minimalistic.
343i halo is complex which isn't what halo was in terms of gameplay. Even the art style is complicated now, call it detailed oe whatever but it doesn't look appealing just a shiny mess.
Who else feels the same way? Current Halo just isn't the game I got into to.

Edit: Halol 5 is now 9th in the charts, dropping off quickly. Now Halo 2 back in the day was top for like a year and halo 3 1st or 2nd for 3 years! That is saying something. Oh and before people say there are more games now, guess what? When destiny and -blam!-ing gta and madden have a higher population it isn't because their are too many games releasing (exampled games are old or not mega titles like Halo). Halo 3 was 9th in 2012 to 2013....

Halo 5 is actually my second favorite Halo, Halo 2 being number one. It's not what classic Halo is by any means, but that's fine. You know why? I'm not getting the same game with every new Halo (like CoD). You could argue "If it ain't broke don't fix it," which I would agree with although playing the same game without evolving would make it equivalent to CoD, which is finally changing mildy between several games at a time. The reason for it being faster paced is attempting to get it back into eSports circulation and keeping matches intense.

I think the multiplayer is going on a good detection. It's a little faster then traditional halo but due to the time to kill you can still run away or win the fight. Your 100% right about the aesthetics, 343i has made it to complicated and futuristic. One thing that I always loved about halo was the simple almost modern looking aesthetics. The campaign is way worse then any thing bungie ever did. I saw a kotaku article and it explained the problem perfectly, halo doesn't feel heroic any more. Nothing you do feels heroic and they've completely changed characters from what they were in the bungie era ex: they've made Halsey a mad scientist that everyone hates. Overall I think the multiplayer is great but 343i needs to improve their future campaigns and cutback on the aesthetics.

You know what gets me. I play Halo 5 but last night I went back onto Halo 3. Both matches that I played, all but 2 on the other team quit and my team won both times. And on my team you had a bunch of trolls who were team killing to bring our team down. I wish the communities were like it used to be. And yes, I know there is Chief Collection (I have it) but it isn't the same.

I've played halo since halo 3, and i also went back and played 1 & 2. I agree 5 doesn't feel like halo, but games do need to evolve. I mean, if it's the same gameplay as 10 years ago then we would probably still be bored. I'm not saying the game is perfect, it has flaws. But I think it has had some good changes to it because the series needed to evolve.

Old halo was the best. It was all I played. It was so simple, fun, and actually really balanced, and I also agree absolutely with your comment on the art style, it looks like such shit now, all these random and completely pointless edges and protrusions. Bump

5 RepliesThe post-Bungie Halo campaigns are great, but not great in that "Halo feel" way. Halo 1, Halo 2, and Halo 3 always had these epic and fantastic moments. - The final battle with the 2 scarabs - The warthog runs - The flood: First contact - The arbiter slowly turning - The battle with Tartarus - The "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE" moments of the Library And many more, ALL with an incredible soundtrack immersing you into the game. Halo 4 and Halo 5's campaigns don't give you that amazing "feel" anymore. The soundtrack doesn't immerse me into the game, The art design feels to "shiny", the characters don't feel all that important. Halo 4 and 5 are fantastic video games, but to me, they're not great "halo" games. - [i]The guy with no house.[/i]
