Character Level and Light Level... what?
Can anyone clearly explain how your Light Level (0-310) and your Character Level (0-40) influence your damage to enemies? I know that if you're a L40 taking on a L41 there is a 32% damage penalty to you. But then, how does your Light Level factor into the equation? What if I'm a L40/296LL taking on a L41 enemy in a 260LL mission? What kind of damage can I do? So there's a 32% damage penalty to me because of the Level difference of 1, but since I'm a 296 in a 260 mission does that mean that the damage percentage penalty drops from 32% to say 22%?

I believe if an enemy is 300 light you will not do any more damage after your gear/light is 300. The light level of the enemy vs your gear is max damage at equivalent or higher light. Example: you are 312 light and your enemy is 300 recommended light. You will do the same damage as a 300 or 312 because you achieved the recommended light. This is why you can't one shot a lvl 200 light recommended captain, etc while patrolling on Venus even though you are 300+ light.

Character level also serves as an access requirement for certain activities. Light Level determines you damage and defense values. Higher light means more damage and higher defense against enemies.
