Xbox Elite Controller Setup

Updated this post with my current configurations. March 2016 firmware update is now out and it adjust stick sensitivity to make them feel tighter. I have yet to play around with the settings since the update, but I did notice a new check box for using radial calculations. Please continue to share setups and tips so people can get ideas on how best to adjust their settings. 1) the shorter trigger lock, with 0/20 on the dead zones. 2) Sticks: I currently run default on both and use short sticks with Kontrol Freek Alphas. 3) Paddles: I a currently running 3, two on the right and one on the upper left. I have jump, slide, and melee mapped to them. Ideas, opinions, your setup, etc

Glad I found this thread. Currently only running two paddles upper left is jump and upper right is reload/revive. Been using this config for bout 2 months and works great. I'm now looking to changing my sticks to aggressive/smooth. Also I've seen many ppl give their opinions on trigger sensitivity, from 0-1, 1-5, 1-20, and 1-25. I'm going to test all these and report back. For those who were asking earlier if it is possible to play with the contr on ps4. It is through a variety of devices allowing cross compatibility. As a ps4 player I use a device called a brooks super converter. [http://www.brookaccessory.com/Super%20Converters/list.htmllink. They have a tons of different converters for all the possible combinations of switching contr. to consoles. They run $20-$30. I found the one I wanted (pink one/Xbox one controller to ps4) and got it off amazon. The only downside for some users is that the controller needs to be plugged into the device which plugs into the console. Luckily the Xbox elite controller has a long cable.
Hope this helps and sorry for the length of my post.
• This is a good thread; let's bring it back. For mine I'm using all four paddles in the following setup: Left upper paddle (small paddle, facing up) is mapped to Y and the right upper paddle (small paddle, facing up) is mapped to X. This allows me to reload and change weapons without moving the position of my fingers. Left lower paddle (large paddle, facing down) is mapped to LB and the right lower paddle (large paddle, facing down) is mapped to RB. Initially I thought I was doing this so I could melee/throw a grenade will I was in the air or in a slide. That is definitely true; Throwing knifes are absolutely lethal from the apex of a jump (head is a bigger target looking down.) On other classes this configuration allows me to jump straight up above a incoming shoulder charge and throw a sticky grenade at them from the apex of the jump. But there was an added bonus of mapping LB and RB to the paddles: triggering my super. This is going to sound absolutely insane if you have tried it. Having the two super buttons available in a place that doesn't require me to change my finger position is so much faster. I can't even begin to explain why. I don't really get the trigger sensitivity settings (where it talks about dead zones) or the stick settings (where you choose smooth, aggressive, etc). Also, what is "radial calculation"? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Just got my controller about a week ago. Been using smooth on the right stick and can't seem to get used to it. Anybody running smooth that might have some fine tuning recommendations I can try?

    • Does anyone have any feedback on how the smooth curve works since the march update? It was absolutely broken before the update and honestly I haven't strayed away from the default curve since because it was the only one that seemed natural. I like the idea of a more smooth curve though and also kind of forgot about the update so I'm interested in testing. If anyone has feedback on how the smooth or any of the other curves now work let us know!

    • I'm late, but just got my elite and configured it to where I never have to lift any figure off the controller to touch a button. I use to run puppeteer where your sprint and crouch where L R stick pushes. I kept that the same freeing up the paddles for the following... Right upper reload Right lower jump Left upper change weapons Left low punch And for shots and giggles I made the y and x buttons RB and LB so I can do a super quicker and using my right thumb only. My trigger sensitivity I put it on the lowest 0-1 And input the left on aggressive and adjusted the slider to far right and put the right stick on smooth. It seemed counter intuitive to move the sprint/crouch to the paddles since they were already on the sticks. This layout seems funky but my fingers never have to go to the buttons or bumpers for anything but a super

For those who always hit the bottom paddles by accident I got a 2 paddle setup that seem to be working great for me. 1) Switched the LB to be the Y button 2) RB to the A button Edit: 3) both left paddles to LB 4) both right paddles to RB Did this for different sized hands mine too big for the forward position but I still only use the the 2 short paddles. Just swap them around till it feels good plus I can rest middle fingers on controller rather than hold them above the paddles. 5) both standard size sticks and tops 6) Y button to right stick click 7) Right stick click to B button 8) A button to down on the d-pad Hair triggers engaged obviously lol Still working on fine tuning the response of the controller will repost when I have it nailed down

      • Set the right trigger to 0-1 for more of a hair trigger. The halo setup uses 5-20. But 0-1 is faster.

        • Right now, I'm playing with both of the original sticks. I feel like it's just me, but I get the like a ASMR from moving the thumbsticks? haha I tried using the round dome ones and it just feels weird for me. But my trigger locks are a shorter, original sticks for both, both are default movements, and my upper left paddle is to my Y, upper right is to A, and lower right is to X. I also run Puppeteer. I'm falling in love with this controller.

I just got mine yesterday and set it up this way: 1: Short Left Stick with Instant curve and Tall Right Stick with Smooth curve 2: Top Left - Sprint 3: Bottom Left - Slide/Crouch/Shadowstep 4: Top Right - Jump 5: Bottom Right - Switch Weapons I did not map X because of fear of killing a toon, even though I disable the paddles when setting it down (don't want to forget that one time)

            • I just got an Elite controller too. I use the short concave joystick on the left with the grips on it, and the tall one with the grips on it on the right side. I use bumper jumper already, so i don't have to take my thumbs off the sticks to jump now, but I remapped the upper left joystick to revive/reload, and the upper right joystick for crouch/shadestep/evade. I like sliding without taking my thumb off the joystick. I tried using the lower two paddles but I kept bumping them and they made my grip feel uncomfortable. I'll try this for now but might incorporate the other paddles later on after I'm comfortable with this.
3) Left stick I seem to like aggressive and for the right smooth, but I would really like some input here. I am also running default sensitivity.
Smooth comes closer to stock-controller than the other presets - but it feels different and not good to me Did anyone found a solution here? I am back to stock-controller until I find a fix here...

              • Medium left stick. Tall right stick. I use the short paddles on the top 2 spots. Left hand paddle is sprint. Right is reload. I love it. Why don't people lock the paddles when they put it down? It's quick and easy...

I have my right paddle set to sprint. I have hair trigger locks on. Adjust my vibration to about 20% of normal. I run the call of duty style button layout so this works out for me really well. The paddles helps keep me from getting sprint locked. But this controller is solid. I love the grip on the controller and the sticks

To anyone looking to buy one, don't get it if you had a scuf previously. I made the switch and just couldn't deal with the elite, ended up returning it and buying another scuf. Almost everything about the elite is better, but the paddles are in a weird place and are way too sensitive for a past scuf user. Edit: putting down the controller on your lap sometimes causes a paddle push.

                      • I tried different things but in so used to the default sett in destiny I only use the hair trigger, I've been playing why the non active paddles on the top just to get used to them cause its hard getting the feel after years of holding standard controller. I'm loving the controller but wish the paddle buttons weren't so sensitive

                          • I run jump on top left paddle, revive/ammo pick up on bottom left, switch weapons on top right, and crouch on bottom right. I play with default sensitivity on the sticks. I've had to change my grip a little bit with this controller or I accidentally bump the paddle on the back just from squeezing the controller. Also be careful when you set your controller down as it can press the paddle buttons unintentionally.
