I think your right, especially about the "basketball court".
I mean if it was there just for shits n giggles then why is it such a task to activate the lamps n everything to access it.
If I created an area like that for people to mess about in, I would make it so you could just walk right into it, no bs gimmicks or anything.

This is bungie, think of the Easter egg room in halo reach, or the IWHBYD skulls in halo 2 and 3. They do random sh*t like this all the time.

Because the nature of easter eggs is to not be obvious? Lots of easter eggs in games have hidden access ways.. Like borderlands 1 and the tannis-fish one required barrels to be shot in a certain order, most MK special things like babalities require hidden combos, etc. Fun to find and mess with, its not supposed to be easy
