The Festival is a Pay Wall

It seems the people within the forums are too stupid to realize the significance that, this is the first time in the games history that players have a choice of buying items vs. mildly grinding for items.
This will happen more often, the grinds will get harder and your urge to purchase will increase over time.
We were told that the Trading Co. was there for purely cosmetic enhancements for the game.
Now we're given quest, that you can't complete unless you have the right combination of items to complete each quest. If you don't happen to get the right combinations of items... guess how you can attempt to get more?
I'm sure the rewards for these quest are simply cosmetic. On the other hand, this is ALREADY and instance where we're sliding down that slippery slope of pay walls, pay walls we were told would not be in the game.

You do realize you can get all the masks from just playing right? If you and a buddy rotate in and out of The Dark Beyond, you can get all the masks in about an hour. I completed all the quests yesterday with out paying a dime. Just put a little effort in

Non of the things offered are nothing but cosmetic, there is no need to make posts like this, the quests give more cosmetic gear that hinder your ability to preform in content due to it having no light. We have been asking for cosmetic things since day 1 and if you want it all you have to pay, but they are allowing you to get free cosmetic things of your choice by grinding. It isn't pay to win if the stuff you pay for is for fun. If anything this shows how bungie is going to use the trading company. For events like holidays, and for other special events that will be fun for all and enhanced by paying silver to acquire more cosmetic items. Have fun and don't complain about things you don't need and by the sounds of it don't want.

I didn't know they would have this when I got on but instead of complaining about how bungie dangles expensive cosmetics in front of your face go play warframe where you can get a color pallet for five dollars.

3 RepliesI especial agree with your edit, less with the Title. It's fascinating how many people don't seem to understand, that this already P2W territory. I can grind... Or I pay and don't have to grind at all. I can play this event normally, for 2 weeks, or drop some 200€ and complete the event in a few hours. This is the first time in the history of Destiny that players got offered that choice. I would call that a soft launch for further explorations into P2W territories.

1 ReplyEither way, RNG decides whether or not you get the mask you need. Paying for the Gamble isn't a smart idea in the first place. Just wear your mask, fill up your candy sack, and pray that you'll get the items you need by Nov 2nd. It's nt like any of the quests are that hard, and the rewards are guess what... More masks that do absolutely nothing to affect your gameplay (besides lowering your light level which is SOOO useful) I'm glad your passionate about keeping the Eververse Trading Company in check, but this is neither the time nor the place. lol You're getting worked up over nothing.

Despite the fact most of the things are purely cosmetic, there are a few things like a "salty engram" that increases xp on weapons. These [i]can be bought with real money[/i] How is that not in game progress through purchasing with real money? It is a very slippery slope we are walking on. The best way to numb a group of people towards something they outwardly object to is to introduce what seems like insignificant changes slowly over a long period of time. Disguising these changes in a "fun" new way each time blinds people to what is going on. Next we will see a consumables that help progress subclasses which was [i]already present in the collectors edition of the ttk.[/i] I fell victim to this thinking it wasn't a big deal. Until now. There have been 4 very small insignificant actions involving silver that are leading me to worry despite the words of Luke smith. Be weary guardians do be blind by small events. It [i]may[/i] (not for certain) be the start of something very bad.
