Obviously many other people have made this same point so, just adding my small voice to the mix. I'm not saying I don't like the raid or will never do it, but I rarely have time, and the fact that leveling past 300 light level is virtually impossible without doing the raid is becoming more of a problem. So here I am having never completed the full raid, I prefer Crucible most of the time, but when Trials comes back this weekend I won't be competitive with people who farmed the raid endlessly BEFORE hard mode and then again after and are 315+ light level. I'm only saying there should be ways (cough cough Iron Banner?) to get max light level gear without having to do the Raid. Funneling down the "endgame" of Destiny to one single activity seems more than a little restrictive, not to mention repetitive.

Come with me to the crucible my friend

I got a 309 legendary helm from nightfall and many 310 exotics from exotic engrams. It'll just take you longer to get to 310 but its definitely doable. You'll be relying heavily on RNG. The post should read if I want to do it fast I have to do the RAID. If you are good in Trials there is no reason you shouldn't be able to do the RAID through LFG. Sounds like a whiner to me.
-
If your not raiding there is no reason to be beyond 300.
-
All I need is my exotic sword and I should get past 300 without raiding, then farm exotics and hope they drop at 310 and infuse them into your favourite load out easy or so it seems ha ha.
-
Then don't.
-
What kind of response are you really looking for here? If you don't want to play that part of the game, fine. No one cares either way.
-
Then don't do the raid, it's the only thing that you need 290+ light for
-
If you decide you don't want to raid that's fine. Just know that you're missing out on the one activity that makes destiny worth playing.
-
If you want to be competitive against 320s but don't want to do what it takes to become 320 I'm not sure what to tell you.

Edited by jefedemuchanina: 10/26/2015 11:00:18 PMWhy do you need to be max light when the raid is the only thing that you need to have that high of light? Your basically saying you wanna skip end game content and be the same strength as people who did it which would render the raid useless. Trials and raids should be the only content with max light gear
-
Status. Raid with me?
-
I trying to think of a good reason to have other ways to get to, or near, max level...I just can't think of one.
-
Then the children will go back to "you're not a real max level".
-
If you dont want to raid, and thats fine, you have no reason to get above 300. EVERYTHING else in the game is below that level. Including ToO.
-
Yea, I think HAVING to do the raid kinda goes back to the old problems they worked on avoiding. I just don't like the raid. Idk why but I don't. I probably won't ever beat it because of my own stubbornness. But Idc, I'm happy with my nightfalls and my good ol fashion crucible.
-
I think Trials is supposed to be that endgame for PVP similar to raids. I think it's a trade off, PVE players grind strikes and rep to get ready for raids PVE content. Granted Trials did not release at the same time so you don't have that advantage but I still think it's probable with heroic strike grinding, coins, XUR. You could have also just ended up as unlucky even with raid drops and be no better off.
-
If you have time for Trials you have time for the raid.
-
A 20 light difference is only 5% damage reduction. You'll be fine in trails if your half decent.
-
There's not much of a difference in a 295 and a 315 in crucible.
-
I understand your point. It is possible to get over 300 without the raid. Prior to the nightfall patch I was 301 before stepping into my first raid. It's an insane grind, and rng has to have a hard on for you, but it's possible. Probably not for a casual though. I have a full time job, but still find time to grind it out.
-
Fair point, but you know trials was supposed to come out nearly two weeks ago. I dunno what level the drops will be. But in any case the PvE elitists would bitch a storm if trials came out and had the same light as hard raid. Imo trials is harder if you're playing fair. No cheese strats to save you if you can't cut it.

Edited by Alias: 10/26/2015 10:26:24 PMWith the new unbalanced combat system, the difference between damage output/health will be 5% for a 320 attacking a 300.

Agreed. We're going to be at a trials disadvantage and it sucks
-
Well, you grind the game to dust, or raid to satisfaction. Me? I've been grinding dust. Tough stuff, huh?
-
What's the point of leveling past 300+ if you don't want to do the raid? That's the only point to level up further.
