If you didn't know, Luke Smith recently said that elemental legendary primaries are no longer a thing. This caused many people to get upset and complain like usual. I have a solution that could make hard mode more desirable, while also keeping weapon variety.
The main problem Luke said was with elemental raid primaries is that regular legendaries were undervalued. In order to find a middle path, I suggest a new raid drop: elemental cores. They would be consumable items that could give an element to any year 2 legendary primary weapon. Similar to sparrow drives, you would equip a specific primary and consume the core to give the weapon an element.
Now we don't want these to be too easy to get, so the only way to get them would be to do a hard King's Fall completion from beginning to end. After killing Oryx, each player would have a 33% chance to get a core, either void, solar, or arc. The core drop rate would not be impacted by a normal mode completion.
We also don't want everyone running around with hung jury all of the time, so raid weapons may need some sort of buff. Maybe change up the perks? Leave suggestions for raid weapon changed in the comments.
Please give your opinion in the poll and comments.
Edit 1: Damn, I didn't expect this to be trending, but cool.
Edit 2: due to popular suggestion, the cores could also drop through normal mode at a 10% chance.

How about use etheric light to apply an element that wears off in a half hour
