am I the only person who feels this way?
I mean c'mon. this is BUNGIE we're talking about. the OG DONS of Online/Competitive CONSOLE Multiplayer.
I figure Private Match features only cause to me that's what Bungie did best and that'd be the only possible way to set up a match freely without obviously being matched with a bunch of randoms. I'm sure tons of people here are familiar with GameBattles and just tournaments in general and the way setting something like that up would be.
and me being a huge fan of Destiny I definitely see Destiny being able to take over competitive games considering the evergrowing collections of guns and armor or RPG aspect of the game making every person who plays the game unique in a sense. Private Match would also give us the opportunity to practice on every individual map and if you and someone have beef you settle it with a 1v1. point blank.
I just wanna be able to say "1v1 me" and mean it and put fear into peoples hearts.
don't grill me for my personal opinion please but I definitely wanna hear what everyone has to say!

Dedicated servers, private matches, a true ranking system that matches you against like skilled players, better weapon balance, better maps. So really, buy a different game, cause Destiny needs to be pretty much the opposite of what it is to be competitive.

With the introduction of custom games, you'd see the community making its own tournaments, 3v3 rule sets, ranked leagues, etc. Bungie wouldn't need to do anything other than give us the tools. We could do our own ranked leagues, etc. This games pvp needs custom matches more than anything else

Yes https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/79539853/0/0

That's why they will host Halo 5 tournaments and Trials will always be that shiny shooter that has shit connection and bad balance .

I think Bungie is trying to keep ahold of the reins in PvP. I believe this sort of feature hasn't been implemented because it would inevitably lead to a plethora of mods and hacks. It's usually what happens when you give script kiddies the tools needed to create "custom/private" lobbies. Bungie would not only be giving them the toolbox needed to create mods, they would also be giving them a 'private' arena to test them. I believe Bungie will never allow custom/private lobbies...
-
Um...yes? I've only played a couple sweaties, but it'd be a lot more fun if we spent more time shooting than matchmaking...
-
Not unless they can remove the lag, then maybe.
-
Yes that way you can make your own rules. Custom settings would make that easier to do but I would settle for private lobbies. Idk y bungie hasn't gotten on this. It would make normal crucible more enjoyable because it would take so many try hards like myself out of normal crucible ha

Private matches will only be a step in the right direction. What we really need are private matches AND custom settings.
-
Dedicated servers first, then custom games.

Okay let me ask you this, how can this game possibly ever be competitive? I mean for christ sake i can hear the announcer now: "Guardian turns the corner, ah, the lucky bullet procd from the opponents hawkmoon, bummer." "Oh, look, that guardian burned out around a corner, bummer." "Sunbreaker? Fuhgettaboutit!" Literally nothing in this game points to having any sort of competitive feel. And if there was? This game would be stripped down to nothing more than primary weapons, no supers/nades/heavy/special It might as well be CoD, whats the point after that?

Edited by XL Choppa: 10/26/2015 11:00:44 PMI don't see how a private match/server is competitive. A ranked server would be competitive though. The top 1% versus other top 1% players. Now that sounds like fun. Just by watching you could learn a lot. And only, ONLY in that match can you see who's truly the top of the top.

Edited by Technicolor: 10/27/2015 4:34:02 AMPrivate matches would certainly be a step in the right direction. The ability to practice and play privately with friends at one's own leisure would be an awesome asset in terms of both convenience and potential improvement. With that being said, there are still various factors outside of custom matches that would probably need to be modified in some way in order to make TTK's meta truly worth the "competitive" investment. Balancing is still key even after private matches are implemented, and a general ruleset would probably need to be instated, as well. I guess a ranking system would help to some capacity, although I feel that judging skill based on any rank of that sort would be practically equivalent to judging skill based on DTR level, KD, or any other statistic like that. Reliable, but only to a certain capacity.

Ranked makes true competitive. The name of your rank will mean something.
-
Better servers for public practice play, a balanced set of weapons, armors, and abilities that are balanced for use in competitive play, a set rotation of maps and game types, and 3v3 rules.
-
Unfortunatley without private lobbies pvp will never evolve any further in this game. All we can do is hope.
-
The servers seem to be getting much better, so custom matches may be on the way soon. Early next year i guess
-
Yes it is

Yes, clan wars.

Edited by turn1racelogic: 10/26/2015 7:43:36 PMA better match making with a ranking system! It is so freaking broken right now. I really think they should separate the pve and pvp quest! Alot of people are just in to finish the quest, they care less about pvp the game.

Private matches would be great, but it'd be only one of the many things that would need to be implemented or changed.
