Why so many tryhard toxic players?

Can't complete a raid without someone getting impatient or annoyed at people trying to learn. And on top of that, death threats like crazy. Why?

Maybe you should watch a couple youtube videos first so you have a general idea whats going on. I cant stand when don't take the time to educate themselves a little bit. Worst are people that join a party and ask "how do I get this done" "where can I find this". Its like come on I dont mind explaining sometimes but ffs there are hundreds of ways to learn what yoir trying to do. So before you go haggling people for info do your homework.

    • It's a side effect of the RNG driven loot. You have to run the raid over and over and hope for RNGesus to shine on you.

    • Pretty much 2 types of players, those that want to blast through raid carrying no baggage (in there eyes) & those willing to help, now I'm aware some players have limited time to play but it's a certain elitist mentality I object to.

    • Possibly it's a function of the time passed and the relatively negative way Bungie deal with players. Grognards are less likely to quit so they gradually became the majority. That said, if you want a raid team on Xbone do shout up. We're not the most experienced by any means but we're all mates who know each other out of game so its a much more chill environment than anonymous lfg groups.

      • Because the game is geared towards people on my level. The top 1% of the top 1%. The people who have hundreds of exotic shards to throw away on rerolls. The people who have hundreds if not thousands of coins to waste on 3 of coins. Hell, even some crucible bounties are above the average player.

        • Id have to honestly say this was the first raid i didnt feel like playing and many of my friends i play consistant with havent been interested in it either. People on the forums that are asking for gamer tags, black spindle and touch of malice or light 300+ are going to divide this game into two. Bungie should have allowed for a level 35 version easy mode to allow everyone to get the mechanics and system down first. this should be matchmade with spoilers similar to court of oryx that give you hints on what to do. Elitists will say no way thats garbage but this game caters to all kinds of players that may not learn as quick and in a heated situation fall flat on their face. Poe was a good example of allowing there to be a starting point as reference example: level 28 poe

        • Wanna know why? Cuz raids are supposed to be top tier activities. Activities that only a few are able to trump. Not every schmuck should be able to finish a raid. Hell, 1% is generous enough, giving that the most of this games player base is neutral.

          • Best thing I can think of for you is make a static of friends to raid with don't rely on randoms from the forums, and don't say but I don't have any friends you can find some good people from forum groups put them on your friends list get a group started.

          • Agree. I like to play for fun, and also immerse myself in the world. (Of course, in Destiny's case, I look forward to more lore/world knowledge so that I can become better immersed.) I'm one of those players who has invented a backstory for her character. XD Not by intent, mind you. It just sort of happened.

            • My advice is to go watch some guides so you can catch up with the important information about doing the raid you missed out on. (And a little trick is to not tell them you haven't run it, just make sure you don't let down their trust!)

            • I agree Ryekx, I haven't been able to Raid due to people not letting me join just because I have not run the Raid before. WTF? Can't learn, when you can't play. Gaming is supposed to be fun. You win some, you lose some. Try again!

              • Some people take games way too serious. Imo, nowadays gamer generation is simply SO different from years ago. Respect, patience and sometimes the sense of fun seems lost on some people. Sucks, happens, best bet is to find like minded people or a sherpa or two.

              • because all good players quit. Bungie needs money, so they made all changes to milk teenagers more. Most of the quality players quit, all whiners and crybabies stayed and throw their money to bungie.

                • As a person who can see both sides of the argument, i'll try to keep both in mind as i type this. On the one hand, if you had two hours free time before you had to go on with your life, would you want to have to constantly repeat something for little worth just because one person keeps on messing it up? Especially when these are people you have next to no chance of encountering again. When they seem determined not to learn and to fail. But then again, there is nothing better then pulling somebody through the raid, who came in not knowing his Warpriest from his Golgoroth. To leave them with the memory of how they learnt how to do this raid? Provided people are willing to learn, then this can happen easily. In the end, there are those who do not want to learn or have not learnt, at this point in the DLC then it is rather scarce to find somebody in the first bracket for normal mode.

                • Just a wild guess, but maybe their time is important to them. Now I'm definitely one of those who fall into the, "trying to learn" catagory, but I can see how people with a limited amount of time wouldn't want to be saddled with teaching someone the ropes, but that's where choosing the right team comes into play.

                • Here is the problem. Seasoned players don't want to spend five hours doing a raid with new people when with experienced players it takes one. You bring up being a casual player and having a life outside of destiny. Contrary to popular belief they do too. I know I'm under time constraints. So if you join and it takes three hours to get to the sisters I'm already off tending my children or spending time with my wife. It's not that I don't like you or have a personal vendetta against novice players. I just simply don't have time.

                  • A lot of it has to do with Bungie's game design. If you are familiar with Bartle's Taxonomy most players can be classified as one of four types: killers, achievers, explorers and socializers. The game was designed to attract achievers and killers, while having little appeal to explorers and socializers. Killers are those who derive fun from the game by ruining the experience of other people and that is whether it is by killing them in PvP or going afk during a strike. Achievers are those that are only interested in getting the best gear as quickly as possible. They tend to only use the most effective methods and best weapons. Explorers are people that enjoy a game by looking around the world and also by trying to discover things for themselves, like new/fun weapon and skill combinations, finding secrets and running missions in different ways. Socializers are those who find enjoyment from a game based on the quality of interaction with other players. They are the ones that don't care that much if they win or lose as long as they are having fun with the other people in the fireteam. Unfortunately the game is designed to mostly appeal to achievers (pve tryhards) and killers (pvp tryhards). Explorers are turned off by the game from the shallow character customization, linear level designs, unbalanced pvp (wtih a ton of OHK), invisible walls, and lack of interesting secrets to find. Most socializers were turned off by the complete lack of social tools in the game. With no LFG, OMM,(for high level content) proximity chat, or in-game clan support, socializers play other games. Those are the two types of players that sort of mellow out a fire team and make playing more fun than a chore. TLDR; the game was designed to appeal to tryhards.
