Notice how bent out of shape folks get about what guns and supers are overpowered or underpowered? They act like if they had this one gun they would be unstoppable; screaming at the ethernet while demanding nerfs and buffs all over the place as if with one little tweak to the game and they'd be heroes.
Truth is it's not the gun. I was curious when I got my hands on Thorn -pre TTK- to see if it would up my game. Made no difference. I'm not a hand-cannon guy and it did not suddenly make me better. When I got Red Death from PoE - PR's and Scouts all the way for me- it gave me a slight boost on certain maps but not like a plus 1 in my KD ratio.
Experiment with your inventory, tinker with your sights and such, find what weapons work for you with what maps, and play your style of game. Quit blaming the gun for your poor play. Destiny is a fairly well balanced PvP experience. Way better than CoD to this Guardian.
Now if the Loot Drops could just get better...
May you always shoot straight Guardians!

I use lots of different weapons, depending on what I feel like using
-
As my .58 K:D will attest it doesn't matter what I use haha

Edited by Fort: 10/28/2015 1:49:42 AMI used to use a nirwens/hawksaw/red specter mix, but I got revelator and I'm in love (it's on my warlock)
-
I had Thorn all of last year and while it was definitely better than most other primary weapons, I was still an average player. I really like the Crucible's better weapon balance now though, as it was annoying to get continually wrecked by just one weapon (now I just get continually hammered to death trying to do my Imprecation quest ;-;)

Edited by sammy-00193: 10/28/2015 2:22:42 AMI primarily use my zhalo, doom, or smite with a dash of yasmin, or chaperone (pve gun by the way due to the exotic skill at the end js), with a fine dessert of a dark drinker, henzens vengence, or simulent. In other words diversity is the spice of life. So embrace it

Smite and now the Villany are my go to's. For every match.

Do guns still drop with reactive reload? I never see it. My main gun is a blue pulse rifle from vanilla that has reactive reload. I've yet to find a year 2 gun that has this to replace it. <3~~Shino Asada~~<3

Edited by Speck311: 10/27/2015 10:22:51 AMIt's both in this game. Plus latency rng. You don't need skill in destiny so the gun is near irrelevant unless it's the shotgun of the month
-
Post should read "it's not the gun it's the lag" Sunday it felt like I was getting one shotted by auto rifles
-
Nirwens mercy for everything. Once I get first curse though....
-
Nirwens and a shotty for everything. Mostly because I'm bad at PvP.
-
I die no matter the situation. This is why I stick to soloing patrol on earth.

Edited by ItsWesleyNL: 10/27/2015 11:27:14 PMSpwcials: Sniper for long range, sniper for mid range, sniper for close range. Primaries: depends on what i want to use. I usualy switch between MIDA, nirwin's, suros, zhalo, combination of NLB and another sniper, NLB and shotgun or universal remote and sniper. Overall preference: mida and a sniper Edit 1: i am not the best pvp player and i only play pvp for bounty's or for fun. With trials on the other hand i will go full try-hard mode

When I'm on a map the not small it would be suros of its short Monte Carlo or if I'm feeling frisky Last word

Spare Change and The Messenger were essentially the same gun. However, Spare Change has a ridiculous "to the right" recoil compared to The Messenger which is just straight up. This makes The Messenger much easier to use than Spare Change. That being said, some guns have a faster ttk than other guns and better recoil and stability, making the skill required to use the gun very minimal. Take Thorn as another example: three shots to the body is a kill provided the target has no form of damage reduction. Coupling that with the insane fire rate and stability will make the skill required to get a kill with this gun very little. The point is, some guns require very little skill and effort to kill with. That's why there is a "meta" and you see the top tier pvp'ers using the most overpowered guns. It's not because they lack skill, it's because they have a fully functional brain that realises certain guns kill faster than others and that's what's required to win gun fights. The more gun fights a player wins, the more kills they get. Couple that with the insanely low ttk of some guns and players can get a great amount of kills in the course of a whole match. This is also the reason why shotguns are so popular, they require very little skill to use and kill in a very short time span. They allow gunfights to be won instantly as long as the opponent is within range. Blink+shotgun will always be a top tier choice because it is an effective tactic which requires minimal effort. TL;DR Some guns are easier to use than others.

Op is right!

Its not the gun! Its the player! 100%

Any pulse/scout with third eye Keep an eye on shotguns while scoped in
-
I disagree, I think pulse rifles are the overall best weapon class for pvp atm and I'm a hand cannon guy. They are clearly much better than the other weapon classes and need to be fixed.
-
I feel like I have the two best PvP exotics in destiny: Hawkmoon and Suros Regime. Correct me if I'm wrong.
-
Not true pulse rifles are the meta right now. When I shoot someone with a scout getting all headshot's instead of that person going to cover like a normal person would that has lost health (smart player) People know the time to kill is lower on pulse rifles and the maps highly favor them. So they stay out and try to get a two tap because the time to kill is so low on pulse rifles. That's where your wrong. The time to kill should be fairly consistent across all weapon archetypes. Which isn't happening right now in the crucible. Pulse rifles have nearly a .5 second advantage in the time to kill department over all weapons, besides all headshot's with the last word. Check out the time to kill thread, your views might change.

I use sponge Bob spatula

It's more the player but a good gun always helps
-
I'm not afraid of someone who held 1,000 guns for 1 minute each. I'm scared of the guy who held one gun for over 1,000 hours. ~TheSpookyNike

I prefer using red death, but some times i have to use monte carlo or hardlight for CqC
-
Where is the option for I use whatever gun I want and still hold my own? I like testing new weapons out.
