I think one of the biggest improvements I can think of is to have the ability to directly transfer items and equipment directly to and from characters, instead of needing to put it in your vault before taking it out. If the companion app didn't exist, it would make sense within the game's logic. But since it does exist, the vault just ends up feeling like a really unnecessary extra step.
