Snipers in Destiny are extremely powerful weapons and in the hands of a relatively skilled player, can annihilate the opposition in a way that nothing ever could. However, I find that they tend to be a tad too easy to use compared to other games due to the lack of sway and the astonishing level of aim assist. This makes them to lean a bit more to the overpowered side then they should, because of the mechanics of the snipers instead of perks or base stats like impact or fire rate. Sway on a sniper practically requires the user to be skilled in order to aim accurately. No sway makes them rather easy to use. I'm not the best sniper at all but it's not too hard to hit the head with a majority of them. Aim assist is the same idea; making it easier to aim at your target by slowing down the aim speed when close to a target. Snipers like Her Benevolence, The Supremacy, the Longbow Synthesis or Shadow of Veils which have between 40-60 aim assist, are usually the most popular snipers. That's really high, and when you put hidden hand on them, you may as well have an aim bot. So what can we do to balance out the snipers a little?
1. Remove or significantly reduce aim assist on all sniper rifles
2. Introduce sway into sniper rifles
This will do a lot in making Destiny a skilled game as shotguns are getting nerfed into the ground with their most coveted perk being removed completely. I support this but we must look at all weapons. Snipers aren't broken and they're not overly overpowered but they could be tweaked a tad.
