Fix the Xbox 360 profile lockouts at the source!

Okay so I just got off a very long conversation with a Microsoft chat support person. After some confusion and digging around looking at licenses, as far as I can tell, she confirmed that what we think Activision/Bungie is trying to do on Xbox 360 is real. This is contrary to what the other support guy was telling me and likely due to semantics. As far as the Microsoft customer support person could tell, the license for Destiny the game is sharable across profiles on the same Xbox 360 console. But "The Taken King Expansion" and "Expansions I & II" are showing up as account-based licenses for Xbox 360, which are not shareable across profiles on the same Xbox 360 console. This is the cause of our problem. So when Bungie responded that they do not support gamesharing? That was actually getting at the heart of the matter, but they didn't spell it out for us (as it would obviously be unpopular). They DONT HAVE TO support game sharing on the Xbox 360 platform, like they do on the Xbox One. So they aren't. The net result? This means families (or anyone sharing an Xbox 360 console) will have to have to pay for multiple copies of TTK for each famlily member if they want to keep playing on Xbox 360. The fact that you literally can only play Destiny one player at a time is even more of a slap in the face here. It's a greedy precendent that is trying to be set on that platform... because it is allowed. It's unclear if there's much we can do about this in the near-term, but if Xbox 360 had the same game sharing terms as Xbox One we would have been protected. The customer support person (who happens to be an Xbox 360 owner who shares with her brothers) urged me to post that suggestion in the Xbox Uservoice forum, where ideas actually get traction. Her and her Xbox 360-owning customer support co-workers are also going to try to throw their support in for it as well on the forum. Here's the link to upvote the idea: https://xbox.uservoice.com/forums/251647-gaming-achievements/suggestions/9845433-xbox-360-gamesharing-terms-should-be-the-same-as-x Not sure if it will help our immediate concerns of playing without workarounds, but it WILL give our issue some visibility and help curb this notion of pay-per-profile that Bungie and surely others in the gaming industry would love to have become the norm. With discs, licenses were essentially pay-per-console (with the disc the validation of ownership) and it's in families best interest to keep it this way. I know Xbox 360 as a platform is on its way out, but this is bigger than the platform. What we don't want is for what Bungie is trying to do to be accepted by the gaming community and give companies the fuel to justify carrying it over to the currently protected platforms. So please show your support and help keep our consoles family friendly! ---------- Note: The actual Usage Restrictions shown in the Xbox marketplace (not on the site, actually on the Xbox) on the purchased items, actually conflicts with the above licensing. If they attempt to block our 2nd accounts, it very clearly states that any profile can use it on the console it was first downloaded on. Here's a video showing what it says: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjqrgciGtX0

  • Here is a way to get around it. Sign in the profile that has the original license and then sign in the profile you want to play ttk on and launch destiny. Sign out profile with license and enjoy it on your other profiles....

  • So the 2nd controller workaround is still currently working after 2.0.0.4 update. They force you to agree to the Bungie EULA, but it doesn't change the fact that had a more family friendly agreement at purchase. Assuming they aren't going to cut us off for fear of class-action lawsuits. But crappy that they leave it as a broken multi-profile experience.

    • I just got off of an extensive live chat with Xbox billing and they have stopped giving refunds because Bungie's posted it's policy on game sharing prior to my purchase. I assume it is because they have had to pay so much out that they have to stop the bleeding. I was told to post on this forum, which I already had, and told him the next step is to cancel my live membership. "Bungie is aware and working on a fix with Microsoft" I don't believe it. I got a half-assed apology and a ticket # with a promise of an Email update. Time to fire up the PS4 and even the WiiU, not the same but at this point I'm over it.

      • This is bull. I got the original two DLC's on a family Xbox 360 and my little brother and I happily shared the content. This time around for TTK, my little brother purchased the DLC. Now, I log in tonight to try and play TTK and its asking me to buy the DLC again?!?! I cannot express how disappointed I am in you Bungie. I have been loyal to your games since Halo and poured easily hundreds of dollars for your games and DLC. Now, you release the game Destiny which is the saddest excuse for a "finished game" [that had a 500 million budget!!!] yet you can't let my little brother and I SHARE YOUR OVERPRICED DLC?! This needs to be fixed now, I cannot even express explicitly enough how angry and disheartened I am of you Bungie. Sincerely, A once loyal customer that feels betrayed by a money-hungry, greed-driven, corrupt company known as Bungie/Activision

      • Just so you all know, there's a way around this. I'm not saying it's ideal, but you can stick it to Bungievision and play. I've been playing on a friends Xbox 360 without having TTK content. You just need 2 controllers. Sign in the account you'll be playing on, and the account that has TTK on it. Load up Destiny, and just make sure to press A with the account you want to play on.

        • That is low of Bungie to pull something like this. But it still doesn't explain the fact that when you purchase the TTK DLC for Xbox 360 right in the usage agreement they clearly state that this content will be available to all profiles on the first Xbox 360 console it is downloaded to. So they are still ignoring there own policy. I brought this matter up with a Microsoft rep a few days back and they agreed. I was told they where going to go after Bungie and get them to make it sharable like all other DLC. If they don't have to support sharing on Xbox 360 they need to state that in the usage agreement before you purchase the content, however it says nothing of the sort and only tells you it will be sharable. Anyways I hope this gets fixed soon because I bought it for mainly for my wife to play but I have the credit card on my account. This is BS.

        • Thanks for posting this information. Bungie's silence is making it difficult to move forward; are they moving in a direction that will satisfy their customers and allow multiple profiles to access content on the same console, or are they stonewalling us until a class-action suit is threatened?

          • Me and my girlfriend wanted to buy the Physical Legendary Edition, as far as I know the 3 DLCs come on one code right? So, if her profile, signed in on my console, enters the code and downloads everything... will it happen the same? I will not be able to acces the content?

              • Hello Buddy. Just to share, I happen to have a friend who had the same issue. What he did as a fix was he signs-in the original account that made the purchase of the DLC Taken King then he signs-in the other account who wants to use the DLC using a different controller. This way, there will be two profiles that are currently signed-in to the console to take the DLC. Please try this.
