Who else thinks Nolan sounds terrible?!!
Dinklage was sooooo much better! People moaning that Dinklage underplayed it, but it was subtlety he was playing, as he is an ai ROBOT after all.
I know Nolan makes more sense as its his business and he's more readily available but now it sounds so cheep and over done. He sounds like he's permanently questioning himself. Ha
Peter Dinklage was awesome! If it ain't broke don't fix it!
But all the fussy childish players out there who thought "well it could be better", nagged away endlessly at Bungie, and Dinklage (which pissed me off) until we all get stuck with this shit "performance" (if that's what you wanna call it).
And now all the people who were amongst the bitchy little whine a lots that caused this mess, have realised that they should've been happy with a good thing and not chased after the mythical "perfect".
At least give us a setting to switch between the two voices for year 1 content so we have a choice!!!

EDIT - Wow THANKS for all the support guys!!! This post is blowing up! I had no idea that (near) EVERYONE else felt as strongly about this as me.
Thank you to all Guardians, keep the replies coming and maybe Bungie will add the voice toggle switch so we can have our little Dinklebot back for year one content.

The "we've woken the Hive" line is horrendous but overall I like him.

Yes he sounds unsure if we have actually woken the hive, but the rest of his dialogue is ok. I rather have Liam Neeson speak to me.

1 ReplyI think it's ok. I didn't like it much at first but it grew on me. Nolan North is a talented voice actor. The only thing I wish they wouldn't have done is make his voice as high pitched as it is.

Dinklebot was lifeless. Nolan may have too much emotion, but it is better than none like Dinklage. Dinklage isn't very available due to his career. Nolan has experience in this field, and is available.

1 ReplyHaving played v2.0.0 over the past few days, in my opinion the new ghost voice sounds too cheerful, for the overall feel of the style and intention of the game. The voice acting is probably fine for the cinematics (which we are about to see in the The Taken King)' but most of the time you will be playing raids, strikes and quests, for which something more sedate is better (PoE, Crucible, already have unique, and perfectly acceptable voice overs). The new ghost voice lacks a certain detachment (It is a disembodied voice after all), and gravitas. His voice reminds me of Microsoft's clippit - "It looks like your trying to play a raid. Would you like some help with that?". With such cheeriness the voice will grate on your ears after only a short time. It is probably, and for me thankfully, why in some parts of the strikes it is quiet. What you need is information that the next phase, is about to start, or some important event has happened, for which a more neutral delivery is best, as you hear it for the umpteenth time.

The new ghost voice I horrible. It's annoying. If they are going to use an annoying whiney voice for ghost then make him funny like Claptrap from Borderlands.
