Destiny is doomed?

Is Destiny doomed to become a dead game? You may be thinking "hold up, what?!?!?", but I'm not joking. Let's go back to destinys development. We were promised so much more. Locations we only see in grimiore like: Europe Jupiter Chicago Caracas London Saturn Osiris and Mercury (I'll talk about this later) Feel cheated yet? The original game of Destiny also was rumored to have the following: Better story More cutscenes More places to go Less DLC A fifth enemy race (look further down) Player trading In game grimiore Woa. That's a lot. How do I know this? All these places I mentioned are in old vidocs or concept art. In one vidoc, OSIRIS (yes, him. Not brother Vance) was on Mercury in the lighthouse! A fifth enemy race was shown many times (pyramid like ships and art showing all the enemy races- with a fifth slot). A whole different story was also rumored to have been developed, where the traveler is evil. So why is Destiny dying? Here's why: First of all it feels like this game was cut up and sold to us in DLC. It is rumored and partially confirmed that some parts of the dark below and house of wolves (maybe even ttk) was in the original game What's to say the taken king isn't the same as the vanilla Destiny? Disappointing and oversold? Destinys story changed mid development. Why? Many say activision enforced that it be cut into DLC. If so, will they continue to do this in the future? And finally: Bungie keeps going back on there promises angering the community

Assumptions based on development art and blogs, now you see why Bungie doesn't discuss their ideas openly anymore? Also it's common for game developers to make up terrain areas and ship it with discs while they still work in story, NPCs, encounters and more to fill it all in. It saves space.

You are making year old arguments that many voiced the week the game came out. You are making these arguments to people who heard them the first time and still decided to continue playing a year later, so you'll find very little agreement. Bungies track record on this game with their 4th content release looming is set, and destiny is not and will not be the game people thought in 2013 vidocs. So your arguments haven't and won't change bungies development approach. So since no one cares about these arguments anymore (I mean, we are all still playing), and since these arguments won't lead bungie to make destiny a better game (destiny 2....maybe) because time has proven they won't.....why are you still playing? At this point it just sounds like whining. Accept reality of what destiny is, and make your own choice. After a year, no one here needs convincing. I know when I dislike something or feel unsatisfied, I don't invest any more time in it.

    • The people making final decisions about Destiny are its own worst enemy. Even if I did buy TTK, come November 10th I'm out for real, and I'll be taking the entire 'grownup' or "older gamer" crowd with me (ha, or I with them)

    • I think that the players who were really excited for this game, and followed it before it debuted and played the beta and what not, will eventually die off. And if they do last a year or 2 more, the game might actually become refined a bit more. And if this the legendary edition is any indication, they will have a much larger game or 2 that cost mich less than the year 1 players payed for it. And a good portion of the players will come back at that point. The new players will get a good quality game. While the ones who were fans of bungie, and beta tested this game for an entire year+ will have been long gone. Its probably not as doomed as we think, or hope. Although a good part of me really wants this game to fail miserably for its shitty business practices i can't deny that people are going to buy into it, and even though its nowhere near the game they said it would be, its still an ok game with an addicting mechanic.

      • yes. not doomed but DEAD. Devs WANT you to leave ( so they can rpelace you with a 'flavour of the month' player who will quit after a few weeks). Every attempt the players make at staying is pissed upon and laughed at by bungie employees. The only ones still here are those ignoring their stockhom syndrome.

        • Dude, a year ago you may have had a point. Like everyone else that made these threads. At this point if your still playing Destiny you don't care anymore, your are having fun. The game will die when people stop enjoying it.

          • Bump. The game had so much potential but it's clearly -blam!-ed. Ill pick it back up in 4 years before the contract is done, and Ill be able to buy the FULL game, Destiny, for probably 60 dollars while these kids spend 150$ a year on a video game.

            • As much as some people try to blame Activision solely on this, it is Bungie's fault to start with. Activision probably didn't help but Bungie controlled enough of their content to have made the game much better. The story being changed with less cut scenes, lack of quality AI, lack of exploits and bugs, lack of lively environments....that's all Bungie's fault. If Activision told them to change it, Bungie had the right to tell them to -blam!- off. Activision had no right to change the IP of the game without Bungie's approval in the contract. Surprisingly, there were a lot of content things that needed Bungie's approval. It's just sad there seemed to be some implosion within the company a year before release and a bunch of people left....

            • While concepts are simply just that, I think it is pretty obvious that there was far more planned for Destiny than was released. While some may not prefer another game like ESO, just to compare, the content on ESO shames Destiny. There's repetitive stuff too, in ESO, but there isn't a sense of pointlessness, or grind for the objective of doing as little work to get the most bang possible. Destiny has three things in my mind: Good gameplay, and excellent music. Some nice graphics too. But with no game itself beneath those things, it certainly wasn't worth the price of a standard video game, let alone the overpriced DLC.

              • Bump. They really needed to make TTK amazing. This expansion will have to fight alongside much better AAA games with real story using characters you actually care about, as well as balanced, competitive multiplayer. I don't know about you, but Halo 5 will kill this game for me. I've heard many other Destiny players mention that Star Wars: Battlefront or Fallout 4 will kill it for them...

                • I think everyonr who beta tested knew that it was a different game than the onr on e3 2013. Things changed when the lead story writer left bungie along side a few others, thats when activision came in so yeah, activision ruins pretty much everything
