What if Ships HAD a Purpose?

So Ships right now do really nothing other than being pretty to look at during the loading screens, so like the title says what if they actually did something beneficial? and in what way? well i have been thinking on it and i believe i found a fairly good use. So we all use the storage system in the tower/reef to store things we currently don't need or would like to save for a later mission, but it can be a bit time consuming going back and forth through all the loading screens for those who don't have the mobile app just to get what you need for the next mission your doing, so why not store things on your ship? this way you can be done with a mission or just be sitting in orbit, go to your ship, inspect the on-board storage, exchange equipment and be on to the next mission, i feel this is a pretty simple idea but one that would make ships more helpful to players, now i don't know how rarity would affect this storage mechanic if at all but perhaps the higher rarity the more available storage space, but the minds at bungie will probably think of something. So that's my idea on what ships could do, whats your opinion? what should these ships do other than being pretty to look at? leave a comment and share your ideas.

  • Ships could just have perks like ghosts are going to. I don't mind the cosmetic nature, we all want a cool looking ship, but it'd be cool if it was more practical. I'd also like it if there were ships that were rewards for outrageous achievements (all trophies, solo raids, solo nightfalls, flawless raider)
