Luke Smith Arrogance: "Sure, let me know when to take off work, Luke"

Luke Smith, please keep this guy and his arrogance away from the media: [ NOTE During a livestream for Destiny: The Taken King, Bungie has announced that you can play the new anticipated endgame raid, titled King’s Fall, on September 18 at 10:00 AM PT.] “I’m not going to announce the plan for it on the YouTube gaming stage…But I promise for people who are excited about the raid will know when it’s time to take time off work. We’ll give em’ a heads up”. Unlike nearly almost every other game that comes with the endgame content when you buy it, TTK will not. I will buy the DLC, maybe, when the Raid is available, or simply wait so long that I play one of the other games being released in the fall. Edit 1: I have a different opinion, or mode of business operation, than some of you. My principle is that I expect to get what I paid for, when I paid for it. Or, tell me ... Upfront ... what will be held back., not after the fact. Got it! Some of you operate your business exchanges in a different fashion, giving your trading partner as much leeway as possible. Edit 2: Seems like I should assume Destiny is an MMO, because it is and that is how MMO's operate, even though no one from Bungie has described Destiny as an MMO, nor, said that we shouldn't expect the principle endgame Raid of a product many of your pre-ordered (I did not) when you pre-ordered it. Got it! This is simply the MMO model. Edit 3: Luke Smith is joking and making light of the fact that many of you arrange your work schedule around a video game so he is actually helping you out. Even though, when he will tell you, and the length of leeway time he will give you is uncertain. Moreover, he cannot tell you now if the endgame Raid will be added in one, two or three weeks. Got it! Luke is helping many of you. I can appreciate this point. Edit 4: Video games take a lot of planning and investment and it is a miracle that they get released on time with as few bugs as they do. So, just be patient and do the missions until the endgame Raid is available. Got it. Best argument said by a few very respectful fellow Guardians Edit 5: I know they followed this procedure with VoG and Crota, but many would argue it was less about taking out bugs (because their was still plenty) and more about Bungie dictating how players play. Edit 6: I don't hate the game. I have many, many hours into Destiny and just want the game to improve and for Bungie to keep their word. Not a lot to ask. I appreciate the positive changes such as the improved story / missions in HoW and the addition of ToO. Let's not forget, however, that HoW was sold to include a Raid that was removed and included a PoE Horde mode that was repetitive and had horrible rewards.Destiny will not get better if we as players do not BOTH: 1) applaud the good and 2) call out the bad, or broken promises. Conclusion: I get where a lot of people are coming from, but Bungie seems to shoot from the hip a lot and say one kind one day (such as weapons growing with us and a Raid in HoW) and then something different another day. For me, they are consistently flakey, with their word not meaning much, for example how HoW would have so much variety and great rewards.

    • There has only been one time in my life that I have taken off work to go to a midnight launch and that was for Black Ops II. I was so pumped for that game and was majorly let down at first... but I enjoyed it more and more the longer I played it. Do I regret taking off of work? No... Will I do it again? Probably not, because, I have realized that my vacation/personal/sick days are for more important things other than video games.

    • He said it because he knows people plan for world first runs of the raid and he wants to let them know they'll have the details they need. How is he making fun of them?

      • Dude.....you act like taking a day off work/school for a game is the 8th deadly sin. If people can afford to miss that time off then they have a right to do it. Don't try and turn it into a moral argument over the implications of taking a fake sick day. Srsly brah.

            • The TTK raid is done, it will not be released day on of TTK so that people dont automatically go to it on launch an to help prevent some burnout in the first few days, the taken king raid will be released in maybe a week after TTK launches

            • How raid was removed because they did not want to put a 3rd buggy raid while they were still having problems, so instead of releasing an unplayable raid they released poe to spend more time on the next raid. They said this themselves. And they may delay it but they work on it till the last second

              • The psychology of pre orders is fascinating, studies have shown that once a person is invested in something (pre ordered a game for example) they seek out positive affirmation for their decision (positive reviews and thoughts etc) and try to reject any negative thoughts. Nobody wants to think that maybe they wasted money on a bad product so as long as somebody had pre ordered something they tend find it very difficult to be objective in judgements on information about the product.. Essentially by having a group of people pre order your game is like hiring a PR team for the fouruma and blogs across the Internet, who will reject anything that perhaps a more objective person points out to them..

                • I know man, I'm a total sheep. I had to take a second mortgage out on my house to afford TTK. Now without a raid coming I've decided to quit my job and crawl into a bottle leaving my family to fend for themselves on the streets. $40-$80 decisions can ruin lives!!!!

                  • So sick of the freaking bitching on these forums. All you tin foil hat conspiracy theorists and haters make no sense. You complain about EVERY aspect of the game. You threaten to quit. You threaten not to preorder. You ask for improvements then ignore them when they are made and go onto the next thing to bitch about. Why are you still here? When I hate a game, I trade it in and move on like an adult. Getting butthurt because the raid isn't there on day 1 when you'll have no chance to even get into it let alone complete it is just ridiculous. Hundreds of people have explained to you that in games that have cooperative "raids", a huge part of the fun for the players is the initial race to be the first to complete it. Why is that so hard to understand? Oh that's right, because you're too salty to see anything as positive. Put up or shut up. Leave or STFU.

                    • You're a spoiled kid who wants instant gratification or you bitch and moan. They have been upfront about the raid being a week after launch. Many games do this kind of thing so I don't know where you get that hardly none do. Every mmo does it, GA online was not on release, destiny did it when it was released. VoG was not available day 1. I really hope you and people like you never play this game again.

                    • You have a valid point. Things Bungie haven't been straight about: -VoG not releasing at launch -'epic cinematic storytelling' -Dreadnaught raid -Original 10th March HoW release date -Saying original HoW release date was postponed for work on a raid

                    • One simple reason, because they probably know with the small amount of content this contains within 2 days there would be complete guides to completing the raid. Simple as, anyone can burn through the vanilla game + both dlcs in a day, maybe 2 at worst. It's going to be less than that lot, so if they did release it day one, by the end of the day it would be completed. By the end of the week people would be disappointed with the lack of content again. So it's a way of dangling the carrot infront of us "you'll get the raid soon, but keep grinding for fun!"

                      • OP has a valid point although singling out one person is not really the reality.Bungie have lied and twisted the truth about several things in the name of "Bottom Line" since the game was released.Having already booked a week off for release i feel like i should of been told of their "plan" for the new raid at the beginning of the marketing campaign not two weeks before release at least then i would have had the facts not the bullshit that Bungie seem to excel at.Do not be surprised if the new raid is released about 4 - 6 weeks after TK is released as a ploy to keep people away from Battlefront. If this is the case then i will sell my account out of principle, its ok saying there will be enough content but Bungie have gone into a lot of fine detail about Year 2 but seemingly forgot to mention about their plans for the new raid and delaying it.Its wrong but typical i just wished i hadnt pre-ordered now.

                          • There'll be a shed load to do this time and you'll have to grind for a lot of gear to be ready. If you wait for the raid to buy it the only thing you're going to achieve is not being ready to raid when it opens...

                          • Do you know why it's not coming out day one? I'll give you a hint, it's not luke smiths arrogance. It's because when day one of the DLC comes, people will rush through all of the content just to get to the raid, they won't stop and enjoy the missions, they may even ignore the entire story by skipping the cutscenes. Then they'll finally do the raid after playing for many hours nonstop and all of the sudden they realize that they have no idea what even happened or why they were really doing the raid. They want us to enjoy the story missions that they worked on for the past year, so that we know what's going on with oryx and why we're going into the raid. Nobody is rushing through the content, they'll take it at their own pace and have fun. Then, they'll prepare for the raid launch day when everyone who wants to finish the raid first will go straight into the raid and have some more fun trying to be the world firsts. It's just better for the people if they release it later on. I know you have your opinion and I respect that but try to think of it the way I described, and hopefully you can also see the reasoning behind their decisions

                              • They hold the raid back because it is a big event. No one will be able to play it day 1. They like to release the raid at a later date and its a competition to most. Teams that work hard to hid the minimum level to compete in the raid like to compete for world first. By holding the raid back, it allows these teams to go in and compete at the same time. It's a big deal in MMO/RPG style games. You may not care, but Bungie and most teams do care. By holding the raid back, it allows these teams to go in and compete at the same time.
