Many Dead Orbit supporters are in it for the black shaders and snow camo guns. What many, including myself, don't fully appreciate is the depth of their ideology which hopefully Bungie will reveal with DO Quest lines in TTK. I think that Eleazar ben Arach is likely the primary source of inspiration for Bungie in picking the title of Dead Orbit leadership. At launch year 1, all of the class items and armor sets across all 3 classes mentioned Exodus in their titles, and as we all know, Dead Orbit's plan for the survival of humanity is to leave Earth and seek out a new "Promise Land". While Eleazar ben Arach was not a Biblical figure, he represents ancient Israel. I think Bungie wanted to avoid the over-used term "Prophet," for Dead Orbit leadership, and probably didn't want to step on any religious people's toes by using other terms like Rabbi, Pastor, etc. The Exodus of Israelites out of Egypt had nothing to do with Eleazar ben Arach directly; however, Eleazar ben Arach was a Prophet or Teacher in ancient Israel. I think that using the "Arach" portion of Eleazar Ben Arach's name gives a nod to ancient Israel's Exodus, but doesn't directly connect the dots as to not offend any religious folks. It's an indirect, politically correct, and creative way of giving the Dead Orbit Prophets a title that embodies their ideology of Exodus for Salvation. Just my 2 cents, for what it's worth, if anyone reads this, lol.
