ME3. Tight mechanics and a good story. That's just my opinion though.

The first one. The series started off great. A third person shooter with RPG elements and decent characters, couldn't complain. ME2 was okay but they started stripping back the RPG side of things and made it a bit too simplistic. Story was still good and the characters were still okay so I didn't mind. ME3 was, in my opinion, complete and utter shit. RPG elements stripped right back, it's as if BioWare said "we can't trust you to level your own characters so we're removing any choices you would have to make". The story went a bit "meh" and I despised every single new character they brought in.

I'll be a devil's advocate and say I liked 3. I've only gone through once, but some of the choices you make early in the game do make you go nuts by the end.
For instance I neglected a mission that was coming through just to go do side stuff and it eventually stopped being a mission. Later in the story, I came back to that system only to find out Jack had been brutally tortured and murdered because I was being lazy. To me, that was the moment that I discovered real choices in the game extended beyond conversations. 2 had a much better end, but the story of 3 was so great until that shitty ending
I've only played 3 but here's hoping they do a next gen collection

Edited by Trick-Star: 7/30/2015 2:47:46 PM3. It had firefight multiplayer, and it was awesome. My friends and I had a blast. As for my favorite squadmate, either Thane or Mordin. I love characters with a damaged moral compass.
