[/u] In an interview about the taken king a while back, Deej was asked about vanilla gear, and immediately jumped (to) the gun and talked about shadow price. As much as im sure everyone wants a shadow price, it seems like they are stepping back, stat wise, to those ideas of higher impact auto rifles. However i think a lot of players are more concerned about gear as far as armor goes. Vanilla gear from the Vanguard and Crucible (which by far was probably the coolest in most peoples opinions) is extremely hard, if not impossible to obtain despite its lower light level, barely even standing up against VoG gear. Ive heard rumors that they can drop in engrams received in tiger strikes, but i can't confirm and i'm afraid to deny it. However i understand that the armor is regarded as a sort of trophy of being a veteran to have anything from those vanilla days, but hear me out. As much of a trophy as it is, after the Great Dismantling, many people ditched their old gear sets because of the lack of space, and because raid gear was so much better, and then when dark below came around with new vanguard gear, we realized we would never be able to get those armor sets again. All im saying is there should be some way to get these sets , and while it should be a bit harder if they are treasures or trophies or marks of being a veteran, people want these, and plenty of people didnt get a chance to get them. (all i have left is my Ghost Angel and Dustwalker cloaks) [b]tldr; We didnt get a warning about vanilla gear leaving, and we should be able to still get it somehow[/b]. Ive had a few ideas, though id like to hear if the community has anything, and as a rule i suppose, you get them in their base stats (300 damage or whatever defense) 1) a vendor in the tower akin to Xur, who sells them for motes/coins/marks once a month (just less often than xur) who comes and sells random pieces of armor, maybe One weapon and two armor pieces, a random piece of armor from any one of the four sets. 2) make Tiger poop out rewards more often, or perhaps leave them in the legendary pool, so turning in a legendary engram will pop with a vanilla piece of gear every so often, or maybe even more often than other legendaries due to their sparsity otherwise. 3) have the vanguard and shaxx sell one legendary engram that guarantees a random vanilla piece of armor, again at original base stats, and each engram is worth 20 motes, or maybe some strange coins, or maybe 100 marks (more than armor, less than a helmet) Any other ideas? please comment!
