Character Transfer

Hello everyone. I would like to ask if destiny players will ever be able to transfer their characters from one platform to the other, which is in my case from xbox to playstation. Im playing Destiny almost daily with clan mates on the Xbox 360. Me and my clan would like to upgrade to next-gen console and playstation 4 because of destiny exclusivities seems a lot more fun to us. The problem here is of course our game progress and we have done a lot in my opinion. I havent heard anyone talking about this yet and i would really like to learn more about this subject. I love destiny and i would really like to enjoy every single bit of the taken king on next-gen. Thanks from the CzechLight Prime clan. Edit: My friend came up with a fair solution i think: Since we are not paying monthly for playing such an awesome MMORPG game i think microtransactions for items that are cosmetic are on place. It would make some money for the game we all love right? So why not to make the transfer available for a price? And to be clear i mean only to move your things to PSN (or back) once per payment. Which also means that i would have to rebuy the game a DLC's for that other platform, which is Okay since that PS4 bundle and collectors editions are including it. I think this is fair enough for everybody.

  • Hi Chum -- Cross platform character transfers are not supported in Destiny. If you upgrade to PS4, you'll need to start fresh. As for your suggestion, I would suggest posting that in #Feedback.

    • The main issue is Microsoft and play station. Not bungie. Play station hold more rights to destiny and wouldn't allow transfers to Microsoft. They want you to stay on play station, they have more things exclusive than Microsoft and will never allow transfers either way because it puts them at risk to losing customers. Think of the bigger picture, it's not always bungies fault or decision.

      • I'm looking to switch platforms too but i think it's because of the exclusives that they can't do so, people would be able to figure out ways to get those exclusives on other platforms or complain that their exclusives are gone when they worked so hard to obtain them. It makes sense but if we're willing to switch to the console which has the exclusives why not let us upgrade.

      • I used to think it was Microsoft and Sony until I got GTA. When I loaded the character transfer, on XB1, it gave me the choice of my 360 or PS3, that were linked together in the social club. So it is up to the developer. So on Bungie.

        • I believe it's Microsoft's and Sony's choice to do so, not Bungie.

          • I agree and I belive lot of ppl are thinking about same thing. I don't see why "cross platform account transfer" should be a problem and even if it would be at some additional cost (like micro transaction transfer model in other mmo-games). I'm pretty sure ppl wouldn't have a problem to pay for a thing like that. So thumbs up for this post and please support this idea, thank u all!!

          • I'm completely in the same boat. Destiny exclusives aren't the only reason though. Street Fighter V, Persona 5, and No Man's Sky? All PlayStation exclusives. If I have to I'll just do it all over again but I sure would at least like to keep the things that I cannot replace again since they aren't in the game anymore and that's really not that much stuff. I'd just like to keep my memories from the journey thus far is all.....

            • No. You can't switch between platforms. You can between consoles; say the PS3 to PS4 and back. Xbox to PS is not a thing.
