What's with hate on Halo Reach?!

It's my all time favorite for multiplayer, and the campaign was top notch. Everyone has there own opinion, but the hate for it is unreal! Did you just not have the skills and all you have are bad memories? Edit: my thoughts on the leveling system are in favor of it. I hated winning 10 games and ranking up, then getting matched with a douche who runs around betraying people, and I'm back to square one again!! I truly feel like I earned my rank in Reach, I feel someone not that great still couldn't reach the rank I reached, because there's no way you'd keep playing the game that long if you sucked that hard Edit 2: the DMR is skill based weapon, if all you could do with it is spam the trigger do not reply to my post because you couldn't figure out how to use it.

  • I don't know. It was the best Halo. My only complaint is there wasn't a good skill based match making system. Had they put that in, even just kept it hidden visually but let it be known it's there, the game would've been better for it.

  • Halo reach hate? I've never heard of it, but I have heard of halo 4 hate. I love all the halos alot, halo reach custom games was soooo much fun with split screen and friends online. Living Dead was so fun too.

  • Wasn't EXP and Credits the same thing? Like you would hit rank 10, buy a bunch of armour and be rank 5? Other than that Reach was one of the best Halos, IMO

    • Vanilla Reach took a giant shit over everything Halo had established over its prior nine years of existence. TU, especially ZB, fixed a lot of the game's problems, but Reach's first year of life left a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

    • The ranking system favored casual players You didnt have to be good and continue to do well to reach top levels. Halo 3 was one of the most competitive multiplayers to date (and largest) and players wanted the same competition and reward in the next installment

      • If it's your all time favourite halo multiplayer you probably weren't very good at skill based matchmaking. And bloom? Pretty much broke the DMR by allowing you to spam it, because that's what happens when you build a gun around a feature that doesn't work properly.

        Things reach did bad in- 1. Bad campaign 2. Dmr outclassed every other gun 3. Armor abilities were meh 4. Bloom Things reach did well though- 1. Living dead 2. Armor styles 3. Forge world

That is how it was SUPPOSED to work, however in practice that isn't how it was. I can guarantee you that most people who had more kills than you spammed their shots, because bloom was broken. It did not take as much skill as you seem to think it did. If it worked as intended, people would not be able to spam shots and get the kills but they could. It made pacing shots mostly pointless except for at long range.

            • Halo Reach was a great game, but the main reason why its hated is because of its multiplayer and most of the changes associated with it. It really didn't hit hard enough or not as hard as Halo 2 or Halo 3. Overall the game is great, I'm really hoping its gets to be backwards compatible on Xbox.

              1) campaign wasn't exciting. Don't get me wrong, it was cool but the story itself was just bad. I didn't feel like there was a particular antagonist or specific objective throughout the whole game 2) armor lock. Really? Wtf? Who thought of such a dumb idea 3) bloom... What a terrible feature. Does not belong in Halo 4) most maps were forged and looked boring as hell 5) jet pack kinda ruined the whole higher ground advantage. I wish it was gone in Halo 4 as well 6) the ranking system -blam!-ing sucks. I was a 50 in Halo 2 and Halo 3. Guess what? I'm just a legend in Halo Reach. Sorry I don't grind 24/7 to be top rank.... It's a terrible system. In most games I play I do better than inheritors/forerunners. 7) characters were bland. Even ODST had better characters. I was so relieved when Emile and Kat died. Other than those 7 things, it was a good game and I had a lot of fun. Other than those...

              • Many people didn't like new features that came with the game. I also never got why everyone hated bloom with a passion, I despise what 343i did to Reach, they ruined 60% of the playlists with the TU variants. I can admit that the campaign is one of my lesser favorites, around Halo 3 & Halo 4.

              • The multiplayer was fun, certainly, but it watered down a lot of the aspects that made the original trilogy's multiplayer so excellent. I am a firm believer that if Halo 4's multiplayer had gone back to being like the original trilogy instead of being the crap-fest that it is, Halo Reach would be the well-liked stepchild of the series. Unfortunately, Reach is now viewed as the game that opened the door for 4's pathetic gameplay.

                  • [u][b]Campaign[/b][/u] ---generic, flat, story with cardboard characters ---contradicts lore established 9 years prior ---choppy framerate ---bullet sponge enemies with artificial difficulty ---space combat was barely in the game [u][b]Multiplayer[/b][/u] ---Bloom created random gunplay (when your game is a shooter, and the thing you do most is shooting, if it's random, that's just horrible game design) ---slow, sluggish base player traits ---unpredictable gameplay (AAs) ---severely unbalanced armor abilities (Sprint, Jetpack, Armor Lock are OP)

                          I like Reach a lot. It was my favorite game, mainly because I was conscious enough to be decent at it and enjoy it. Also, I really liked the assassination feature (up until the "ASANSIONS OF URBG CLANN LEDER" phase of the game). However, there were a few shitty aspects. Blood-shots were so ridiculously annoying. I was playing team doubles one time, and we were playing against some guys who were calling us 'Frenchies' for some retarded reason. It was hilarious. They rushed the rockets and the sword and spammed grenades at every opportunity. With all their shitty exploitation, they were ahead 49:48. My friend got the sniper and hit this one dude [i]twice[/i] in the head, and he didn't die. So, the loser spams a grenade launcher and they win. It was so retarded. Also, Armor-lock. Jetpack douches. -blam!-ing light-glitched objects in Forge that look out of place. The end.
