Urrok, The flame prince (Tips please)

Ok me & my strike team (gf & best friend) have been playing together since the Destiny journey began... Most challenges we could take on together we fought and despite some crushing defeats we persisted and got through. I should be clear though that we have never played a Raid - simply because we are just comfortable playing as a small team. So, when Prison of Elders came along we jumped at the chance! I spotted the new hunter arms and had to have them - so we fought & fought Valus Tau' arc (lvl 32) and finally nailed him (Celestial Nighthawk came in extremely handy). So, this week we tried taking on Urrok (lvl 32) - We managed to clear all the rounds ok (round 4 being a little troublesome) and then danced into the arena to take on that flame prince! And... got burned.... over and over. We figured out fairly swiftly there was no surface unaffected so tried jumping all to no avail. My biggest frustration was the sheer number of heavily shielded majors... You would jump during the rage only to get wiped out by a handful of wizards circling us like crows... So we ended up quitting which was extremely frustrating. If we attempt it again I think we need a much better strategy (or we simply just wait another week till the boss changes again I guess...) In viewing YouTube footage I have seen most strategies involve Titan bubbles & Gjallerhorn... Sadly only one of us has a Gally & we have all been playing since launch. So my thoughts are two of us using icebreakers on the boss and the third using the only Gally we have on wizards & knights, with our Titan popping the odd bubble when we manage to generate enough orbs... But upon entering the arena leave the boss alone and just try to focus on killing as many adds as possible? If anyone has any other suggestions please post below - it's a little disappointing that the only strategies I have seen online involve one weapon & one class... (Gally/Titan) I feel like as we each play a different class there should be some combined benefit - as we assumed that's how Bungie intended a strike team to be formed (variety being the spice of life)?

  • Whilst my fire team all have gally's, we also found the blackhammer a very effective weapon - more so than the icebreaker. As long as you are constantly hitting Urrok in the head you can continue without the need to reload. We have 1 person shooting anything that gets close, along with wizards, whilst the other 2 are focused solely on Urrok. It is also a great assist to have the Titan equipped with the Helm of Saint 14, so that any thrall that rush you get blinded as they pass through the bubble. We always head left from the airlock to the end, and place the bubble on the left stairs to keep the guys focused on Urrok protected.
