Which subclass for hunter??

Bladedancer

483

Gunslinger

473

I am gonna start working on my hunter really soon, and need to know what to focus on ( at first anyway ) If possible, can you please tell/write an answer with why and most welcome are the setup your using. In general I like scout riffles the most, and i very often ( especially in PvP ) see hunters run with the handcannons? - Is that a must? Guns - pers. I like scouts, but open to new ideas ( e.g. handcannons ) - A mida multi tool, with agility perk? Perks on armor, what to go for?? - More agility, invincible, int/str/dis e.g. What skills you chose etc. - What grenade, what boost to super etc.. What faction is best for each subclass? Thanks for all info on your preferences, it will def. help.. And of course I am gonna switch up from time to time and test it all for myself.. Edit: Here is a few things I have thought about so far: Gunslinger - would be best with future war cult, as I like the grenades that seek nearby enemies over a throwing knife?? And then with rounds that explode. throwing knife, causes dmg over time/precision kill reset.. Battle recovery and speed.. Either scavenger or keyhole. With chain of woe... Bladedancer: I would go with New Monarchy, to boost int/str. I would choose the skip grenade. The super boost could be useful with("vanish, in nightfall/raids, but other than that I like the showstopper or razor edge more? I would go with the escape artist for blink strike, to hit quick and go away :) Again recovery and speed sounds perfect with hunter, combined with vanish? - E.g. combine with " don't touch me" Regen health with arcblade/and or gain invisibility. At same time, if a gazilion enemies at once, increased duration would rock and kill them all??? :)

Thank you everyone for talking about this :) Are there anyone that know much about the hunter items? Which could be great, all I got is a legendary and an exotic rdy for lvl 20.. The exotic is just the alpha lupi ( gotten from Xur, engram ) I'm thinking that "don't touch me" sounds awesome.. Mida tool as weapon sounds awesome as well. I also got a patience and time for it :) I'm also considering just leveling up all factions, as I feel the hunter classes are quite different, unlike my warlock where it'll fit fine with just FWC. ( Not using strength on my lock ) and same with titan, I don't use grenades much ( mainly defender )

      • Bladedancer is handy for crota but weak generally, I have much more fun playing as gunslinger personally.

      • i only go bladedancer when im running sword on crota and during arc nightfalls otherwise i run gunslinger the rest of the time for pve...crucible i personally think both classes are evenly matched it just depends on your play style

        • Use both. I have a 32 hunter and use both. I recommend using Gunslinger for PvE and the Bladedancer subclass for PvP. Even though people can see you while invisible, you are not tracked on the map.

        • This will help you: PvE, single player: Gunslinger, Considering most story missions contain waves, it is not the greatest idea to get up close and personal, which is what bladedancer centers around. Considering most bosses have a devastating melee, you definitely want a ranged attack. PvE, strikes, raids, etc.: Bladedancer. Yes, i realize enemies still appear in great numbers, but as a hunter, you should have a well-ranged sniper to pick off enemies one by one. In strikes (nightfalls especially the nightfall) it is crucial to get those stealthy team revives using invisibility. PvP For Clash, Control, and rumble, you want bladedancer. Arc blade is infinite kills until it runs out, Golden gun gets a maximum of 4 shots, which is not enough to take out enough players (unless you find the whole team in one area and Combustion activates) For Skirmish and Doubles skirmish, and salvage, you want gunslinger, 3 shots= 3 kills. Trust me on this, ive been rocking the hunter for months, you will get good results, good luck!!!

          • Best part about gunslinger is the throwing knife, bladedancer is great for raids, so either one is good

            • Bladedancer, the invisibility is particularly helpful in nightfalls when you need to revive teammates, saved my groups from restarts many a time.

            • I used to be a gunslinger, but since crota I've been doing a lot more bladedancer and I fell in love! It's so much fun. Can't wait for the new exotic boots and get an extra jump so that I no longer need to switch to gun slinger for jump puzzles

              • Blade dancer seems to have next to no armour and you die really fast for some reason. When running the relic on the templar section i find it 10x easier as a GS, but i do prefer BD alot of the time. I like going invisible.

                • i personally run gunslinger most of the time , because i got exotic helm that gives you 4 bullets for your gold gun and you can get 2 throwing knives which come in really handy , but blade dancer is nice for nightfalls due to the invisiblity and being able to sneak by enemies to revive teammates but over all i think gunslinger is more effective in PvE and both are about equal in PvP !

                • I love both Subclasses. In PvP they're both great options but lately I have been giving my blade dancer alot of use. For PvE they're both good but I personally pick blade dancer because invisibility can be extremely handy for both personal and helping the team.

                • Level bladedancer first, you'll want it maxxed by the time you get to end game, v as its more useful for keeping groups alive, soloing stuff, and running sword.

                • Gunslinger here. I love throwing knives in the crucible. But it depends on the mission which one I use, mainly gunslinger.

                      • Use Bladedancer. Go for the maximum agility said bladedancer can have. Use MIDA with he agility perk. Run around dodging all the bullets and enjoying life!

                      • Gunslinger can speck heavily into defence and has an amazing, low risk super. If you get head shots a lot (if you use scout rifles, sniper rifles, or hand cannons then you should pretty much have to fit in here) then there are some great perks to compliment your gunplay.

                      • Gunslinger for the Raids definitely, I learned that the hard way trying on my first attempt to do the vault on glass, but blade sure helps you get through those nightfalls if you can stay invisible to revive someone when you are the last guardian standing.
