Ladies and Guardians, tonight is the remembrance of a fireteam. Its the last recalling of the legends of three brave men who risked their lives for the sake of the citizens of the Last City on Earth only to have theirs ripped away from them- so abruptly, so maliciously- by a corrupt hacker. I'll rewind...
It was roughly 3-4 months ago that GuardianXbox and I were traveling across the moon on patrol, eager to move on and complete our 6 patrol missions. We were farming chests, collecting loot, when we stumbled upon this level - 8 was it?- birthday noob (he got Destiny for his birthday). He continually asked us to a party chat and we of course were scared it was some creep who was not...nice. But after some messaging we discovered his was around our age and so we invited him. He was a squeaker at first, but he was friendly. His name was fourboar dope36 and he turned out to be a really interesting fellow. After a while of explaining the game to him he got off to a slow start. He questioned loot drops, marveled at those gold chests everyone gets, and died a lot. And for a while there he went his own way, not talking to us much, hanging out with whom I presume to be his actual real life friends.
Up until about a month ago. He joined our party with a squad of his and asked us to do Crota with him. Of course we said yes. So we did it, went smoothly, and turns out he's grown into a great sword bearer. And every week from then on we did all the raids we could. And his friends, who he had an abundance of, always helped.
But now things get sour. He was on a couple days ago and he was apparently arguing with one of his lesser known friends. This argument took a turn for the worst when this friend of fourboar's "hacked him" and deleted all three of his characters. And now fourboar is devastated. He's not really on Destiny and he spends his time on Mortal Kombat X. So my plea...
Bungie, I know this has happened and there's little you can do without evidence, however I urge you to look into this and see what really happened. If the gamer's are so important to you then do something. Restore his items, give him a boost if he needs to start over, but don't let someone get away with hacking.
I hope this gets somewhere, but the odds are slim. So bump and like if this needs attention, cause if 1000+ hours of your work went down the drain, wouldn't you want help?
TL;DR: fourboar dope36 has had his account hacked and guardians deleted except for a level 7 warlock which is now being furiously grinded to become atleast 27-28.
Edit: He does have his warlock, but it was only level 7 so he's working on it. And he's up there already after pulling an all nighter.
A big thanks to AdamBomb113 for coming up with our slogan, #RestoreFourBoar!

Edited by ThatAmazingIdea: 4/19/2015 8:21:42 PMHe gave his password away to his 'lesser known friend' A child giving out private information over the internet... has consequences for said child. Instead of learning from his mistakes, he's gonna think the mistake wasn't so bad since grown ups can just make everything fixed instantly... Edit: BTW, 'hacking' in these terms should be considered as 'giving out password and having friend use the password to get into account' 1.) His 'lesser known' friend is probably also a kid without any knowledge of hacking. All those grown adults screaming I WILL HACK YOU online? Same thing here, we know they can't hack. 2.) It's a kid and his 'friend'. From what I've seen with the Henry threads, people assume kids are very gullible. So applying that here, the kid openly gave out his password to a friend.

NOOOOO!!! *hits ground* WHYYYYY?!?!?!

Edited by netherslayer777: 4/19/2015 6:40:24 PMBump. Whether or not this particular instance can be fixed, it should be made possible to restore your account to a certain period back, so future issues like this are avoidable.

This was interesting, but how the hacking went was left unsaid. I presume you are on Xbox due to your friends name, therefore it can't been of share play. This means it must have been done through his Xbox or someone who had his account details. If the latter, he shouldn't have given them away, and if not, he needs better friends. Some people go too far thinking it's funny. Not hating, I pity this guy a lot, just asking for clarification.

I doubt something will be done even though something SHOULD be done

So... Why can't we lock characters yet? Seems like that's one of the the most common ways people lose stuff.

Edited by Insanecorn75: 4/19/2015 6:35:01 PMHe has my condolences. All hackers are cowards and thieves. Whoever did that to him is an asshole. I wish him good luck. Bump.

Bump. Definite bump. For the love of God, bump. I help as many new players as I can, wherever I can. To read this post just makes me feel devastated for the kid. I assume this is a ps4 matter, and I'm an xbox player but c'mon Bungie. Help this kid out.

Fingers crossed for your friend, good luck!
