Best Halo 5 Mechanics?

Which Spartan abilities did you like best and which need to be retuned? I'm a pretty old school player so I prefer the simplistic arena-style of Halo's past most of all. That being said, I'm still excited for H5 (MCC launch nearly killed that for me). Here are my personal opinions: Sprint is fine. Thruster pack I actually like well enough. I hate the ground slam. Looks cool, has no place in this game IMO. I don't like the ledge grabbing either. I think it looks good from a viewer stand point and plays well enough but it makes terrain hoping just too easy. Not a fan. I can't recall but was the thruster done in 3rd person or 1st person? The H4 3rd person is less immersive and I think 1st person pov would feel much much better. Thoughts? EDIT: I'm on the fence about ADS. I stubbornly want it gone but it didn't play too poorly. May be okay but I could live without it, for sure. EDIT: Sliding and charging I personally care nothing for, they are gimmicky and will mostly be a "huh, that's cool" to the casual audience the first (only) times they use it and just another useless add-on to the competitive audience. Feels like a waste of programming to me!

      My favorite was the ground pound. Sure it was situational, but I was always on the high ground trying to pull one off. The round I got a double kill with it in breakout and got another one for the final kill was the most fun I had in the beta. Least favorite was slide. I might have used it once the entire time. I honestly forgot it was in the game until I saw my team using it. Thrust was fine, sprint was nerfed hard, but in a good way, smart scope was different at first, but it felt fine after a few games. Edit: forgot charge. It was fine, as long as it isn't a instakill from the front in normal slayer I'm okay with it.

    • I loved every ability and got comfortable with each one. In glad that Halo has returned to its roots with equal starts for everyone.

    • Most of the new things added in Halo 5 are horrible and out of place. As you said, the sprint and thruster packs are fine. The other's aren't necessary.

      • All mechanics are fine. They increase combat options delivers you right into the fight..while at the same time having drawbacks. Running lowers your defenses , if you miss your charge you are screwed. Mess up ground pound and you are slowly getting up while getting pelted. Plus ground pound is very situational. If anything this halo is pretty balanced. When in fight zone, I would never run... But when there is no enemies around, nice to be able to run. Dash and new abilities give a refreshing add while still allowing you to play perfectly fine h2 style without using the abilities. I don't know where the fuk this ADS issue came in since it's been there SINCE HALO 2, like wtf. The only thing they added changed some scopes a little to better support arena style..,. And added sights to AR and magnums, two completely underused weapons that needed buffs since halo 2. I couldn't play the beta long :( visiting relatives... But the match find times annoyed me anyways... But I still got a few days Of matches in

          Thruster pack was definitely my most utilized Halo 4 thruster pack was 3rd person as well for whatever reason.
