How I EARNED my Gjallarhorn.

It felt so good when I finally earned my Gjallarhorn. The Vex Goblin was one of the biggest challenges I've faced as a guardian to date. The harrowing battle lasted an eternity of about 3 seconds, there were moments when I thought it might actually hit me and I wiped the sweat from my brow after it had concluded. I took a well deserved breather and waited for the adrenaline to wear off. The purple object that sprung forth from its collapsing corpse was indeed my reward for killing thousands of its kind before. The universe clearly recognized my skill and effort and had perfectly timed this reward as a milestone in my achievements. After defeating the mighty Gate Lord, I returned to the tower. I quickly ran over to Master Rahool, he looked me in the eye and said, "What have you brought us Guardian?" I handed over the small purple object, expecting to find that it contained radiant shards or another legendary weapon with confusing perks. The gunsmiths of the golden age clearly had a sense of humor. Today, Rahool looked shocked. I wondered what it could be that was lurking in the purple box? "What's in the box?" I queried. "This one is powerful." Replied Rahool. He reached deep inside and my heart stopped as I saw the glint of white and gold, the lovingly crafted wolf motifs adorning the weapon that now sat before me. I laughed, hard. Rahool was a bit taken aback and I fell on the ground in fits of hysterical laughter. Several guardians rushed over to find out what all the commotion was about and I pointed at Master Rahool. The other guardians looked down and saw the Gjallarhorn sitting on the Cryptarch's table and then looked to the purple engram. Some praised me and congratulated my luck at such a find. The rest carefully walked over to Rahool and pulled him aside to discuss this indignity. I never saw Rahool again after that day. I presumed he had transferred to another tower. It was clearly no longer safe for him on our tower as he had added injury to insult after insult to the other guardians. The new Cryptarch is a much more cynical person. She is often heard exclaiming, "Let's see what's inside that box of crap you've brought me. Oh look, shards. Who knew?" While her sense of humor could use some work, we never felt as cheated as we did with Rahool, always promising mystery and wonder, but delivering broken dreams and shattered hopes. And that, that is how I earned my Gjallarhorn.
