The slow wind down to silence

Ok so this is week four that I haven't had any motivation to actually play destiny. It's been coming for a while now. Some of you may know what I'm talking about i.e. If you've started getting any of these symptoms:- 1. you're doing a nightfall and halfway through you just don't care if you die because you're not going to get anything you need. 2. Your regular raiding crew send you an invite and you politely message back or join party chat to say "Er yea I'm just doing bounties at the moment" because you can't face a 2-3 hour Crota glitch fest! 3. You log in. Look at your 3 characters and decide that technically you can make do with what they currently have so don't need to grind anything. 4. You can't be asked to level that shiny new <insert gun name here> you just got because it's going to be just the same as any of the other shiny guns you have anyway.... 5. You try playing a strike. <insert most hated strike here> comes up and you "Straight to Orbit" while watching the other players zoom off into battle. If any of those things has, is currently happening to you then you're burning out. I wasn't enjoying any of the activities anymore and I couldn't face another rush into battle to kill the same boss yet again. Don't get me wrong I don't hate destiny or anything like that. I've just run out of excuses to play the game. Ultimately that forces you to see a game for what it is. This is partly due to new games like Bloodborne and remastered borderlands coming out. After five minutes with borderlands I couldn't shake the question of why were destiny's guns so boring. Imagine getting an exotic suros with void or solar and (aside from the suros regime perk) everything else on it being a random roll. Suddenly collecting an exotic means you may or may not get a doozy such as firefly instead of slow fire etc. etc. Having the gunsmith reforge it in the same way as the iron banner guy. The guns levelling to my character's current level instead of simply hitting a stat wall decided by the developers. Suddenly getting a weapon is exciting again! Well that's where I am. Giving the game a break (still crawl on if Xur has something but, I have to force myself now). I'll take a look back at the vault capacity patch and maybe house of wolves but, I find it impossible to shake the fact that the last two raids were half arsed (let's be honest here) and I can't see that changing with the same designer in charge of the next one. Crota hard was so cheap it wasn't funny i.e. just making the creatures higher level than the player can get to instead of changing stuff like the lamp maze layout and the end fight. Someone asked what I would have done differently and I managed to snap back in 30 seconds "I would have made the hard mode start with an all swords affair. From start to finish you have a sword. All the enemies are sword wielders too. No ogres of course unless they change a sword to generate a VOG shield instead of throwing grenades or something. Imagine reflecting back ogre bolts! While your team is killing thralls and sword knights!" That made me realise how exciting the game should be and just isn't. It also brought home the amazing lack of content in the game. Patrol is basically a wide open zone of nothingness. At the very least the patrol should have grown when new areas were opened during the Dark below DLC. Why can't we now go fight a few high level enemies in the Omni-gul area? Why is there not a new patrol area opened with each DLC with new vanguard bounties? I may be back and I'll watch the forums and news feeds out of habit but, I'll probably not play much past a few bounties when I can be asked to put the disc into the drive. Even then I put it in and took it out again when I realised that I had put it in out of habit and not out of wanting to do anything in the game. Happy hunting fellow guardians. I may see you around in the house of wolves and you may see me near a vault terminal come patch 1.1.2.....maybe..
