Too many times I have opened a legendary package from the postmaster and got nothing more than 1 or 2 ascendant materials, or a couple of motes of light (mind you they arent even legendary).
Does anyone else feel cheated by this? Especially since I could just complete a public event and get the same rewards. Factions seem to not have a point to leveling them up anymore. Whats the point of all the work required to rank up a faction?
All I suggest is increasing the amount of materials obtained or eliminating them from the loot table.
To me the work is not worth the reward.
Edit: Wow, I figured as many people shared this feeling, but I think you guys are getting the wrong picture. This post isnt solely about cryptarch packages. The main point is that faction packages contain nothing more than a couple materials. Refering back to the top, its not right to get 1 or 2 ascendant materials from a package when you can just get them from a public event or a daily heroic.

Public event packages only give you materials
-
I agree. They should increase the rep required but guarantee a drop.
-
I agree completely. It's deflating when you finally level up with a faction, go back to the postmaster only to have it turn into a strange coin and my 50th crucible commendation. As if I play enough crucible or have room to be purchasing more weapons.
-
You see it as work. This is your problem. Just play the game and have fun. Plus factions are easier to upgrade because both bounties can go towards it.

Iv had legendary engrams decrypt into an exotic 2x (NLB, Universal Remote). My Hunter was my first character and to this day, I still have not picked up a legendary engram with him. The drop rate for my Titan & Warlock is crazy however. Those 2 have 1/2 the time spent on my Hunter combined and have landed like 14 between them.
-
You misunderstand...
-
I lost any incentive to grind Roc because of this very thing. Maybe it's bad luck, but I only get a weapon about 40% of the time turning in an engram, and it's a good one only about 10% of the time. But, I have enough energies and shards to start my own chandelier business.
-
I was lucky enough to get two blues out of a legendary. Really made my day. So, yeah, I feel cheated too. I have no problem grinding rep for the factions, but where I do have the problem, is being forced to do PvP to buy the stuff I need. I do not like that at all.

Legendary engrams should not give us ascendant mats
-
-
You think that's bad, you should have seen how it was before. You had a 40% chance for a legendary engram to become a Rare instead. And the chances if an exotic appearing was about 0.08%.
-
You are asking people if that are pissed when they open engrams, pretty sure most of the people playing destiny are you are definitely not the only only one.
-
yer i feel your pain too, specially when the cryptach levels up, and you get a couple of useless blues that you end up breaking up, was getting better postmaster packages from the cryptach in the early stages of levelling up.remember on my Titan level 5 gave me a legendary that ended up as patience and time, been trash since !

Edited by moobz: 4/2/2015 8:42:51 AMOh yes believe me i share your pain. Only twice i think i got something exotic out of it, a chest piece turned into the titan amementarium and heavy legendary into the truth. Even if i do get a legendary weapon, 95% of the time its a dismantle because they are so crap.....so basically more energies
-
dont expect anything from it and you will be fine. the whole game is still a grinding game. Once in a while you will be surprised by the legendary engrams
-
Apparently not since dozens upon dozens, perhaps even a hundred other people have made posts with the same title.
-
Haven't got a weapon for the last 6 packages
-
Yeah I'm just grinding for Dead Orbit shaders now... rank 30 with them yet still no shader... damn you Bungie. lol
-
My last 4 have done this who cares anymore
-
Yes. It seems like 1 out of every 50 legendary engrams is a legendary/exotic weapon/armor. Hit rank 15 on dead orbit, got a shard 3rd time in a row
-
the first 5 levels on vanguard i liked cause after 3 i'd usually get a weapon that made my life a little easier. but once i got passed that stage and weapons started dropping a lot more, upgrading the vendors is just something that happens a few times a week and anything they give me is just part and part of the game. I don't really care for what they give me now cause i don't want it most of the time anyway. only certain exotics which only the cryptarch will hand out from a legendary engram are worth something to me now. feel your pain, but it's really not worth anything anymore. Especially since lots of ppl will have hundreds of shards by now and plenty of coins to spend on anything they want.
-
I think I'd rather get 50 of the mark they use, and higher levels give access to more and more gear, for example, you can only see four guns, generally an auto, a scout, a shotgun, and a machine gun, but every faction has at least one of each type of weapon, and shaders, make it so you have to get to lvl 20 to be able to buy everything from them.
-
I get legendary gear and weapons occasionally, I don't ever expect them, so when I get them it is cool.
-
Agreed
-
I always welcome energy, I use a ton of it leveling up different legendaries that have better perk rolls. Shards is rough... I never use them.
-
What I don't understand is, awhile back Bungie decided that legendary engrams will never award you with a rare (blue) item. It used to be that way, and it was such a tease! But the legendary (purple) packages we get from the Cryptarch from leveling up can result in blue engrams to be decoded!! Why is that?!
