At the end of the new trailer chief says "your mission is done, agent locke, but min is just beginning."
This led me to think, why is Locke hunting the chief in the first place? Cortana at this point, is out of the picture. Why would he go AWOL then? Simple. He knows too much. Locke obviously is with ONI, we know that but think, what has ONI been dying since the events of Halo 3? Well it's been: scheming to take control of the Earth government, attempting to get it's hands on a Covie cruiser, sabotaging the elites so they are now in the midst of a civil war.
Quite the list. This info is leaked to MC and he is now trying to bring down ONI before it takes over the UNSC entirely (which it almost has.)
Analysis of the two new trailers: You will have a choice of who wins, Locke, or Chief
Agent Locke perspective:
Locke is a child of ONI, brainwashed to believe whatever ONI does is law. ONI is his equivalent of a god and he will obey. He believes that Chief has brought the civil war to the elites and unrest to Earth and all her colonies. Now he must end it. Bye bye chief.
Chief perspective:
He's a hunted dog. Except now he's turned the tables. He's a monument to the strength of humanity and doesn't disappoint. Now he has Locke, the poster boy of ONI at his finger tips. He's been hunted, and now he's the hunter. He's a broken man who only knows how to continue fighting. Locke has brought this madness upon the colonies and now chief can end it. His mission has only just begun though, seeing as Locke is only a pawn of ONI.
Sorry if this is already a theory. I have no idea, I don't watch those videos. Felt a need to post this though.
Interesting, but I doubt this is why Chief goes rogue. In Halo 4, he disobeyed a direct order from a senior officer, which calls for a court martial on Chief's part. Furthermore, the order he disobeyed was to hand over and deactivate Cortana. So, in Chief's eyes, the UNSC wanted Cortana out of the picture because she was malfunctioning. Since Chief had known Cortana for several years and bonded with her, he wasn't ready to just end her holographic life. Once Cortana sadly died by the end, Chief suddenly realized how much of a machine he actually was. Given orders to do this and kill that, he was truly just a machine. Emotions clearly overwhelmed him for the first time. he finally embraced his humanity. With all of that in mind, as well as his inevitable dishonorable discharge, Master Chief really had no other choice but to go AWOL. He is obviously attempting to save Cortana in some way, and he knew the UNSC more than likely would not allow him to go on this mission. This is, in my opinion, why he went rogue. Now, I have no idea why ONI sent Spartan Locke after him. All we know is that he tasked with apprehending Chief for his "crimes against humanity". This seems to line up with my theory.

I doubt they want us to play as Locke just to kill him off in his first game.
-
Hey guess what this is a Destiny forum not halo
-
You sir, gained a like
-
Interesting...
-
Master Chief has got some serious PTSD issues and the UNSC VA is taking forever to file his claim
-
I'd love it if there was a third trailer with chief and locke lying by the monument, and then both teams from RvB just turn up and the rest of the trailer is from their perspective
-

I don't necessary believe that. I think its a government scrub. If you listen to the hunt the truth campaign. It seems like the truth of what the master chief and other spartan 2's or threes cant remember at the moment went through being kidnapped and all that. Wasnt to the public's knowledge. I think it comes out and the public finds out about halsey and how she orchestrated this and "switched sides" so the government basically a pr a stunt brands the chief a triator so people with think of him not as a hero but an enemy so they can get rid of him without major outcry and this kidnapping thing can get swepped under the rug

Goddamnit griff stop talking nonsense and go get the ammunition!
-
Cortana was his main battle system, she practically runs masterchief in battle for tactical decisions to decoding enemy computer systems. Without her, he is damaged goods incapable of making the right choices. Oni wants this faulty system offline.
-
If Cortana is out of the picture, than why did he have the chip in the E3 trailer? Honestly, I like your theory, but I doubt it's what will happen.
-
He didn't betray he abandoned. You flee in a time of war your considered a traitor. After loosing Cortana, who could fücken blame him
-
You know, I needed my mind to not be blown in pieces, but... Woah
-
Mind=blown Amazing theory i am a halo super fan and enjoy reading up on stuff like this if what your saying is true i will most definatly be more excited for october 27th.
-
I hope it isn't that I mean they have the entire Galaxy at their finger tips why would they focus on a cliché driven plot like that. .
-
There's another section of the forums where you can discuss other games. Take it there. This is the Destiny only section.
-
Dude go away. Go spam the 343 forums. Halo 5 is going to finish off that franchise. It's the past now. It ended with the words "Wake me...when you need me."

Edited by KingKrown: 4/1/2015 3:39:38 AMI going to assume it has something to do with Hasley & him eventually Whatever shenanigans she has gotten into looking back at Halo 4, Now,I HOPE, I really hope Locke is in the situation where the player doesn't blatantly feel he's flat out wrong and the "bad guy"
-
Haha. I have a PS4, but I also have Xbone. I've had PS and Xbox since the first ones. This has nothing to do with PS or Xbox. Not even about Bungie. Simply put; Halo=Gay.
yesss yesss. Let the butthurt flow through you. Give me your tears
-
Better guess is that it has something to do with protecting halsey
-
Edited by Mercer526: 3/31/2015 2:41:06 AMCortana is alive. The reason he went awol is because of a faint signal from her

Halo=Gay

Guessing you never read escalation.

I was thinking the same thing. He knows too much and ONI doesn't trust his knowledge so they send Locke to hunt him down. And Chief plans to bring down ONI with the things he knows or through his skill.

Edited by Replx: 3/31/2015 8:01:09 PMI think chief in the halo 5 story is gonna be on the ground with Locke about to shoot him. Then realizes his mistakes and they work together to bring down ONI and bring peace to humanity. BOOM!!!!!!
