Alright I have this friend who has NEVER played an fps before, nor does he own any consoles at all. Most of his gaming experience comes from flash games he plays on his incredibly slow Mac. Just yesterday (March 29th, 2015) he came over to my house, and since I still had an open character slot, I let him make a character on destiny and try out the game, with a little guidance from me. First thing he says: "That ghost thing sounds like R2D2." Anyway his character wakes up from the dead, I introduce how the radar works to him, he gets the khvostov and we're off. Now remember this is his FIRST FPS so he has little to no clue how to aim a gun. Also, he is incredibly bad at sprinting (note that he has little to no experience with a normal controller.) He barely survives the first onslaught of enemies by using the warlocks space magic melee on almost all of them, and is seriously stuck on some parts, which I help him with. After the horrible ordeal that was the first mission, he gets to go to the tower and pick a new gun. Due to the fact that he is fascinated by a gun that can fire 3 shots at once, he picks the pulse rifle. For his first mission, we do the one where you have to retrieve a warp core for the ship. He does significantly better with the pulse rifle, but still kinda bad. After a half hour or so we finally defeat the archon, with much cheering on his part. Once we're done, he points out the crucible and asks what it is. I tell him that it is online multiplayer, but he is a bit badly equipped to do good in it. He asks if I have another character with better weapons, and I let him try the crucible with my Hunter. He is so bad, I don't even want to see what he has brought my K/D down to. He decides to stop, but remarks that he really likes the game. Any thoughts or questions? Similar stories of your own?
