This idea came over my head when I recieved a mission from a beacon and heard New Monarchy say something along the lines of "Sweep them out and we'll handle the rest guardian." So my thought was that the factions you recieve these missions from are trying to reclaim specific locations to maybe set up an outpost or settlement. What if this were ACTUALLY a thing. Could you imagine how awesome it would be to visit a New Monarchy or Dead Orbit settlement? There could be vendors that have a different selection of Reputation gear (New Monarchy pulse rifle and sniper rifle, Dead Orbit Rocket launcher, Future War cult auto rifle) that you unlock by accepting quests from one of the Npc's that could be there too. Public Events could involve using these outposts too in the form of "tower defense" missions other nearby players could join in. Only players wearing the corresponding class item to the settlement will net in Rep. Ranking up at these settlements will unlock a mechanic to find burried engrams of quality up to rare that would rarely and randomly start spawning as well as schematics that can be redeemed at the settlement for glimmer/telemetry. Rank 3 will cause green buried engrams to spawn in random locations and Rank 5 for blue. These are just some ideas I thought would really spice up patrols and offer more reasons to play them.
